Chapter 186 Free At Noon
Vera pursed her l*ps, gazing at the neatly bound notebook, feeling an indescribable sensation. in her heart.
“Eileen, I gave you the notebook. Why did you give it to Elm? Everyone in school is talking
about it. 1…”

Eileen quickly apologized, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have given your notes to Elm. I thought he would make a copy, but I didn’t expect him to tear them up.”
“Eileen, I didn’t really want to tell you this. I just didn’t want Eric to misunderstand. You know, we’ve finally gotten together, and I don’t want him to be unhappy because of these things.”
“I understand. If Eric misunderstands, I will explain it to him.”
Vera noticed the workbook on her desk again. She picked it up and glanced at it. “Did you buy this workbook?”
“It’s from Mr. Gardner.”
“Is that so? This workbook seems to be newly released this year.”
“Really? I’m not too sure about that. If you want, I can make a copy for you. The problems in
it are a bit more challenging than the ones we had in the Olympiad Math Cla*s. It’s been quite some time, and I’ve only managed to finish half of them.”
Just then, the school bell rang for cla*s.
Eileen decided to lend her the workbook.
Vera would return it to her this afternoon. She still had a few pages from the previous workbook to complete.
The last cla*s of the morning was the weekly break period on Monday.
Today, it was Cla*s One, Cla*s Two, and Cla*s Three’s turn.
During the last cla*s, Eileen sat in the cla*sroom, fl*pping through fashion magazines to pa*s the time. The extra books for these extracurricular activities were randomly picked from the shelves behind the cla*sroom.

Hearing a voice, Eileen turned her head to see a girl knocking on the window. She opened it, recognizing the girl with a ponytail and a slightly chubby face. She seemed familiar. “Oh?”
“Do you recognize me? My name is Natalie Scott, I’m in the cla*s next door. Are you okay? You’ve been on leave for so long, I thought you wouldn’t return to school. I’m glad to see you’re fine!”
Her eyes were large and round, as innocent and endearing as a fawn. When she smiled, her eyes curved like crescent moons, giving her an innocent appearance.
“Thank you for what you did last time!”
“No problem at all! By the way, why aren’t you out having fun? I heard there’s a basketball game at the gym, and there are lots of handsome guys there!”
Eileen gave a slight smile. “I think I’ll pa*s. I still have some problems left to solve.”
Natalie’s eyes sparkled. “There are a few questions I don’t understand. Can you help me?”
Eileen told her, “Sure.”
“I’ll go get my homework,” Natalie said cheerfully as she ran off.
After a while, Eileen didn’t see Natalie coming over as expected. Instead, she heard the sound. of an argument coming from next door.
“Are you
blind? You stepped on my foot when the path is wide.”
“I’m sorry, Calliope. I didn’t mean to do it. I’ll wipe it clean for you right now.”
“Wipe it clean? Do you know how much these shoes cost?”
Tll compensate you right now.” Natalie pulled out a pink wallet. “Calliope, I didn’t bring much money today. Is three thousand enough?”
“Are you trying to get rid of a beggar? No wonder you’re a country bumpkin who struck it rich. You only have a little money. I bought it for a hundred thousand, but since we’re cla*smates, you only need to compensate me fifty thousand.”
“Fifty thousand? But I don’t have that much money. Natalie bit her l*p in grievance, her eyes suddenly becoming teary. She looked pitiful.
“Elm, look at her! She stepped on my shoes and told me she had no money. These shoes are a limited edition pair my mom gifted me for my birthday. They are imported from Friyx.” Calliope said coyly. She was sitting on Elm’s lap, her arms wrapped around his neck.

Calliope wasn’t a native of Hulbury. She moved from a rural area to the city. Her family had made a considerable fortune selling pork. It was only after they moved to Hulbury that she transferred here during the eleventh grade.
However, the school was not as she had imagined. Instead of being welcoming to the new student, she was ostracized in her cla*s simply because her family sold pork.
Her family didn’t just rely on one source of income as they also sold truffles and cartilaginous.
Despite trying to explain, they didn’t listen and instead ridiculed her.
“What kind of shoes are so expensive, costing fifty thousand?”
Hearing the voice at the door, Natalie smiled like she had seen her savior. “Eileen!”
Eileen had heard their conversation next door.
Eileen walked over, looking at the pricey shoes. Indeed, they were limited edition, with only five pairs released worldwide. However, this pair must be fake.
Yet, she didn’t expose it because all five pairs were in her shoe cabinet..
She hadn’t worn them because they were too expensive, though not as exaggerated as claimed.
“I’ll compensate for the cleaning of the shoes she dirtied.” Eileen took out three hundred from her wallet. “This should be enough. Consider the extra as round-trip fare.”

“Eileen? This is none of your business. You’re giving me three hundred only? Do I’m a beggar? Do you have any idea how expensive my shoes are!” Calliope stood up angrily. Even so, she was still half a head shorter than Eileen.
She slapped the money onto Eileen’s face. “Don’t think that just because someone is supporting you now, I won’t dare do anything to you. You better be Swire and mind your
own business.”

“She helped me, so I will involve myself in her affairs.” Even without Jasper’s support, Eileen wouldn’t stand by pa*sively.
Natalie picked up the money from the ground and nervously placed it on Elm’s desk, then hid behind Eileen once again.
Throughout, Elm didn’t look at Eileen, focusing on solving the problems in his workbook.
Eileen could sense that he was distracted.
Is he feeling guilty or uneasy?
Eileen didn’t say anything more and left Cla*s Two with Natalie.
Inside the cla*sroom, Eileen pulled an extra stool over for her. “In the future, stay away them. The girls around him are not easy to deal with.”

“Start working on your homework. If there’s anything you don’t understand, ask me.”
“Okay. Can I come to you for help if I don’t understand anything?”
Eileen glanced at her and lowered her gaze. “If you don’t understand, go ask the teacher! I’m usually very busy.”
“Okay!”
Catching a glimpse of his despondent eyes from the corner of her eye, Eileen felt her heart. soften. “I’m available at noon.”
