Chapter 187 Does Elm Like Her
Elm, who used to be relatively normal, now seemed to be acting crazy.
His character was never bad, so it was unclear where this sudden temper was coming from.
She had no relationship with him, so she had no control over his actions.

The Olympiad Math exam was approaching, and Eileen couldn’t think about anything else.
After school that day, Eileen went to the enrichment program, only to be told that the test the night before was a screening, and only three students would be selected in the end.

Competition had always been brutal, and achieving success was not easy.
The results from the previous night were posted on the blackboard.
As expected, Eileen came out on top.
“Having connections really does wonders, huh? She didn’t come for half a month and still managed to get first place. What are we even doing here? We paid over ten for the train ticket and traveled for five to six hours, and we have to return tomorrow.”
“Stop being jealous. It’s your fault for not having a capable boyfriend! Us poor folks should feel lucky to be here.”
“Ah, let’s not talk about it anymore!”
When they saw Eileen, they all immediately fell silent.
The sarcastic words and implicit glances made it seem like they were all mocking something,
Eileen calmly swept her gaze across the room. “I earned my place through my own merit. What gives you the right to belittle me? If you feel that the last exam was unfair, we can always take it again.”
Several boys eventually stepped forward to defend her. “She’s ranked second in the entire year. Why would she need to cheat on this kind of test? You came from another city but either skipped cla*ses or went on shopping sprees instead of paying attention in cla*s. If you put that much effort into your studies, you wouldn’t need to be here criticizing her.”
The girls who were speaking earlier turned pale.

After Vera walked away, the girls stared at her back and muttered, “She’s way better than that Eileen! So what if she’s first in cla*s and second in the grade? She still ended up taking the enrichment program.”
“Petalburg High School is a strange school. If Eileen really is the second top student in her
with grade, how could she possibly end up in the enrichment program, competing for a spot us underachievers?”
“With her around, the rest of us won’t stand a chance. No matter how hard we work, we won’t be able to match her.”
“That’s because your boyfriend isn’t the CEO of Smith Corporation!”
The two of them were walking slowly, allowing Vera to overhear the girls’ conversation. It turned out that Eileen had returned so late yesterday because she had attended the enrichment program.

Eileen was in the midst of stapling documents when suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her index finger. A drop of bright red blood appeared on her slender, fair finger. At the same

time, her eyelid twitched, and a sense of foreboding suddenly filled her heart.
Luckily, the staple was not rusty, so she didn’t need to get a tetanus shot.
When cla*ses ended at half past nine at night, Eileen made a trip to the restroom. Upon exiting, she looked at the spot behind her in the mirror. Apart from the pitch-black darkness, there was nothing else.
Could it be that I’m too stressed from studying? I keep feeling as if someone is secretly watching me from behind.
Shaking off the water droplets on her hand, Eileen returned to the cla*sroom, preparing to leave with her backpack.
As she approached the elevator, a hand from behind grabbed her, pulling her into a stairwell. Before Eileen could utter a word, a strong scent of alcohol suddenly hit her. sound-activated light flickered on abruptly, revealing a person who had appeared out o nowhere. The initial panic in Eileen’s heart instantly subsided upon seeing this person.
Elm seemed to have had too much to drink. He embraced her tightly, his entire weight pressing down on her. He leaned on her shoulder. If it weren’t for the wall behind her waist would’ve cracked from his weight.
Eileen demanded, “Elm, what are you doing? Do you even know what you’re doing?”
“You’ve changed! Eileen, you’ve changed!” His tone was both angry and fierce, tinged with a hint of grievance.
“Elm, let me go. You can’t do this!” Eileen pushed his face away, but his strength was overwhelming. He held her waist tightly, making it impossible for her to move.
“You also have a girlfriend now. Is this fair to her?” Eileen’s voice turned cold.
“It’s fake!”
Eileen was taken aback. “What did you say?”
“It’s a fake girlfriend just to make you jealous.”
Eileen slowly put down her hand that was pushing his hand away. They both fell silent. The sound of his ragged breathing was audible, and there was a hint of perfume wafting off hist b*dy.
She wanted to say something but didn’t know what else to say.
The sound-controlled light in the stairwell soon went out.

Both of them were completely immersed in the darkness.
His words, like a breeze gently touching the calm lake, caused subtle ripples.
“You promised to tutor me, but you never showed up. You didn’t even know when my birthday was. You owe me!”
Eileen gazed at the Blake wall, her voice struggling to emerge. Finally, she mustered the courage to ask the question that had been weighing on her, fearing that it would only lead to further misunderstandings.
“Elm, do you have feelings for me?”
In a drunken stupor, Elm abruptly rose and gently held her face. Their noses touche forcing their eyes to meet. His eyes seemed to contain a whirlpool, pulling her deep
