Exposing the Charade of Deep Affection by Y.Flash Chapter 455

Chapter 455 It Didn’t Matter Anymore

Walter gave a nonchalant hum, ruffled Hermosa’s fluffy hair, and said to Olivia, “You take Hermosa in first.”

Olivia glanced at me, nodded slightly, her eyes curved like crescents as she said, “Tabatha, see you in a bit.”

I smiled lightly, watching them enter the Hinton family.

In March in River City, there was a lot of rain. Now, raindrops were starting to fall from the sky again. It seemed that there would be a heavy rain soon.

Looking at Walter, I gave a slight nod. With no more topics to discuss, our goodbye was merely an exchange of smiles, then we each turned and walked away.

My wrist was grabbed, it was Walter. I stopped in my tracks, turned to look at him, meeting his restrained, enduring dark eyes, “Tabatha, do you really not care at all?”

I paused, looking at him as I calmly asked, “What are you concerned about?” After hesitating for a few seconds, I continued, “Your marriage to Marjorie?”

He pursed his l*ps, his dark eyes fixed on me without moving.

I smiled faintly, my state of mind was truly calm at that moment, “Walter, everything I told you that day was sincere, I genuinely wish you happiness.”

A dull pain throbbed at my wrist. I furrowed my brows, attempting to retract my hand, but he held it tightly. Looking at me, his voice was

hoarse, “Why

This question was inexplicably asked. I sighed, speechless, and could only say, “I have things to do, Walter, let go.”

His dark eyes deepened, and he suddenly yanked me towards him. I was caught off guard and was pulled directly into his arms, held tightly by him. I struggled, but he held me even tighter, “Tabatha, tell me, do you really hate me that much? So much so that even after all we’ve been through together, for you, the past still can’t be let go?”

If a person indulged in emotions excessively, they would drown in them, just like a person drowning in water.

I pushed him away forcefully, my face cold as I looked at him and said, “It’s not about love or hate, Walter, we’ve long missed our chance.”

He squinted his dark pupils, his voice somewhat torn, “Missed? You said we missed? What do you mean?”

“I…”

“Don’t tell me you’ve fallen for Ezra,” he began, his voice hoarse, “Tabatha, you can’t fool me.”.

“Why would I lie to you?” I was somewhat tired, looking at him, indifferently said, “In this world, nothing is impossible. Having experienced life and death doesn’t mean anything, Walter, stop bothering me.”

He furrowed his brows, his dark eyes deep and somewhat terrifying. He approached me step by step, grabbing my arm, looking at me as he said word by word, “Clinging to you? Tabatha, is that how you see me? My repeated humility and pleading, you see it as clinging to you?”

Ignoring the hurt in his eyes, I nodded, “Yes, you’re annoying me like this.”

He remained silent, just staring at me without uttering a word. Suddenly, he curled his l*ps into a cold smile, let go of my arm, and stepped back a few steps. He looked at me with cold indifference and mocked, “Well, that’s fine. In the future, when I marry a gentle wife and have a son, and live a happy and fulfilling life, I won’t have to feel guilty for not taking good care of you in the past.”

I nodded, subtly suppressing the sourness in my heart, looking at him without changing my expression, and said, “The past is in the past, you don’t have to worry about it.”

He raised an eyebrow, his gaze icy, “Fine, I’ll listen to you.”

Words had been spoken, further talk was pointless. I gave a faint smile, ready to leave, when I ran into Marjorie who was slowly approaching. Her mother was following her, which took me aback.

Seeing my mother, I ultimately couldn’t control myself. After months of not seeing her, how I missed her.

I wanted to step forward, but my mother didn’t even glance at me. Instead, she walked over to Walter with Marjorie by her side.

With a smile on her face, Marjorie was gentle and charming. She glanced at me lightly, then turned to Walter and spoke softly, “There was traffic on the road, I didn’t come too late, did I?”

Walter shook his head, his gaze still on me. This wasn’t a place I should have been in the first place. My mother didn’t want to see me. The bitterness in my heart only left me with the option of not appearing before her, to avoid upsetting her.

So, he simply turned around and wanted to leave.

She didn’t want to be stopped by Walter, “Ms. Conner.” The address sounded quite unfamiliar coming from his mouth.

I paused and turned to look at him. He was looking at me, his thin l*ps. curved up, seemingly holding back a warm anger. He held Marjorie by the waist and said to me, “In half a month, we will have our wedding. I will send someone to deliver the invitation to you. I hope you can come and have a drink at that time.”

This person…

Angry at me?

Still… it doesn’t matter, none of it matters anymore.

I nodded, smiled faintly, “Okay, thank you.”

On the way back, I was still somewhat dazed. All along, I had been pa*sively pushed along, getting to know Walter, relying on him during the boring and long two years, unknowingly falling in love with him, from being on tenterhooks to completely letting go. In just a few months, it felt as if half a lifetime had pa*sed.
