Emma stood up to go look, but I stopped her and whispered, “Sister-in- law, it’s okay, she might be changing clothes in the cabin.”
“Change clothes?” Emma was puzzled, “Change what clothes?”
I pursed my l*ps, briefly explained to her what had happened by the pond in the backyard. After listening, she sighed slightly and looked at me, asking, “Are you okay?”
I shook my head, laughing, “She might catch a cold if she falls into the water, but I’m fine, it’s no big deal.”
She said helplessly, “Tabatha, don’t argue with her. She’s been like this since she was a child, and I can’t persuade her. She’s out of control now, let her learn her lesson.”
I just smiled and didn’t say much more.
The old lady saw me whispering and laughed, “What are you two sisters-in-law chatting about? Share it with this old lady too.”
Emma and I looked up at her together, smiling, “We said grandma is in good health, thinking about taking you out for a walk in a few days.”
“Yeah, we’ve been talking about this for a long time,” Emma said with a laugh. “Walter’s resort in Springbury must have opened by now. Grandma, you need to take care of your health so we can go there and enjoy ourselves sooner.”
The old lady laughed heartily and said, “You two kids, you’ve hit the nail on the head. I’ve been thinking about going out for a walk.” After saying this, she looked at Walter and said, “Walter, arrange something in the next couple of days. Let’s all go together and have fun for a few days. I’ve been cooped up in this house all year round, and it’s indeed suffocating.”
