Chapter 7 Naomi Stopped Her
Mr. Rivera’s fiancée?
She and Levi had a secret marriage, so people within the company only knew her as Levi’s secretary.
So, the fiancée Kyle mentioned was Naomi?
She had just divorced, and Naomi had boldly appeared at Rivera Group. She would even sleep in the same bed at the Rivera Manor where she had once slept with Levi, trying various intimate poses.
Just thinking about it this way, Gianna felt her heart torn.
Still, she didn’t hesitate to say, “Thanks,” and then left the HR department’s area. Kyle watched her leave, an inexplicable look in his eyes.
Even a fool could see Gianna’s feelings for Levi. No wonder she
got
fired.
After opening the computer, he muttered in a strange tone, “Another good show.” Upon reaching the president’s office floor, Gianna ran into Jason as soon as she stepped out of the elevator.
“Ms. Lewis, you’re here,” Jason said, glancing at the luggage she was carrying.
He knew she must be here for the passport. He gestured towards the direction of the conference room with a file in hand. “I’ve given your passport to Mr. Rivera. He’s still in a meeting, the third one today. Are you in a hurry? Should I go in and let him know?”
“No need,” Gianna replied in a distant tone, “I’ll wait here for him.”
“Alright then. How about I get you a cup of coffee?”
Jason had a feeling Levi didn’t plan on letting Gianna go. She had many tasks on her plate, some of them significant projects. Once she left, it would be hard to find a suitable replacement immediately.
His attitude toward Gianna softened a bit. “I just learned how to make Turkish pour–over coffee.” “No, thank you.” Since Gianna wanted to cut ties with Levi completely, her attitude towards the people around him naturally wasn’t warm either.
Since she declined, Jason didn’t press further. He went to the conference room to hand the documents to Levi, feeling a bit dejected.
Gianna passed through the office area and glanced in the direction of the conference room. The door was slightly ajar, and people were seated around the conference table.
She saw the back of Levi’s head, his broad shoulders filling out his suit jacket perfectly. He was listening to reports from both sides, his profile showing indifference and his lips moving occasionally.
Levi always appeared so focused during meetings.
Looking away, Gianna looked down and noticed her wet clothes and the luggage she was dragging along due to the rain.
Although she wanted to barge in, she felt it was inappropriate.
She then looked towards the president’s office. She could vaguely see a woman seated on the soft chair through the frosted glass. From the looks of her, it should be Naomi, the woman she had
encountered at the hospital.
Going in would only increase her embarrassment and discomfort.
With these thoughts in mind, Gianna temporarily stored her luggage and headed to the restroom. She turned on the tap and splashed cold water on her face, calming herself down and contemplating how to ask Levi for her things later.
“Ms. Lewis, you’re late today!”
An intern assistant approached to wash her hands and greeted her.
Gianna replied with a nod, refraining from explanation. After the person left, she dried her face with a tissue while gazing at her reflection in the mirror. Her elder brother had mentioned during her trip to Dubai that she had lost a lot of weight. She had even laughed and claimed it was due to her diet.
Looking at herself now, she thought it was evident how much her marriage had worn her down.
Ending it had indeed been the right choice.
When she was lost in thought, the restroom door was pushed open again. A graceful figure walked in, her face smooth and fair, exuding an air of nobility and elegance. Only a slight bulge in her abdomen hinted at her pregnancy.
Seeing it was Naomi, Gianna didn’t know why she suddenly felt so inferior.
Quickly, she wiped her face dry, composed herself, and turned to leave.
“Wait.”
However, Naomi suddenly called out to her. “I heard someone call you Ms. Lewis earlier. You mus be Levi’s secretary, right?”
Gianna froze, her heart racing as she heard footsteps approaching from behind.
Naomi walked up to her, smiling gently, “Levi’s meeting should be over soon. Can you make a cup of coffee and take it to the president’s office? You should know his preferred flavor, right?”
