Chapter 6 Going to Find Levi
At this moment, Gianna stood in the airport lobby, staring at her dimmed phone screen. Finally, she let out a sigh of relief.
Perhaps it had been too long under the shadow of the Rivera family. Now she felt an
overwhelming sense of liberation.
Observing the bustling travelers, she thought about leaving Silver City. Did she feel uncomfortable?
Maybe a bit, but more than that, she felt relieved.
She used to think Levi just didn’t love her, but now she understood he had feelings for someone else.
Rather than lingering, she decided to let go.
Gianna went to the airport counter to check in. She had already booked her ticket to Dubai.
She had left her family and concealed her identity to stay in Silver City.
If it wasn’t for the Dubai Medical Expo and her grandfather wanting to meet her and Levi, he wouldn’t have given this project to Rivera Group.
However, Levi was unappreciative and sent only her to handle it.
Now, it was time for her to go back.
“Hello, Miss. This ticket has been locked, and I can’t issue your boarding pass at the moment.” The first–class counter attendant politely declined.
“Locked?” Gianna was surprised. “That shouldn’t be. Could you please check again?”
“Did you book this ticket using the company account? There might have been a refund request. Could you show me your passport?“:
Suddenly, Gianna realized.
She was Levi’s secretary, and almost all her accounts were managed by Rivera Group..
As for her passport…
The HR department had taken it for registration purposes.
Gianna felt a headache. She was in such a hurry to leave the city that had caused her so much grief that she hadn’t considered this.
“I’m sorry. I’ll make a call to inquire.”
She stepped aside, took out her phone, and tried calling Rivera Group’s HR department. But the call couldn’t connect. The number had been deactivated!
Gianna was shocked. How could she forget? Rivera Group also prepared her phone number!
Rivera Group, Rivera Group!
These two words seemed to haunt her endlessly.
After leaving the airport, Gianna hailed a taxi and headed straight to Rivera Group.
Rain started to fall outside the window, and soon, the city’s towering buildings came into view. She handed the driver a hundred dollars and entered the building, still dragging her luggage. It was a technologically advanced place.
Fortunately, news about her resignation hadn’t spread yet. However, rain had plastered her hair to
her disheveled face. After several failed facial recognition attempts, she finally managed to enter the elevator.
She pressed the button for the 12th floor, where the HR department was located.
“Mrs. Rivera, you look quite disheveled. Are you fleeing for your life?” Kyle, the HR department head, was someone who liked to criticize others. He was good at sucking up.
He had seen how Levi treated Gianna and had gotten used to treating her the same way.
“Where’s my passport?” Today, Gianna had no patience to deal with him. She cut straight to the point.
“Passport? Well, you’re in bad luck. Just a couple of minutes ago, Jason from the president’s office came and took it. How would I know?”
Gianna was utterly shocked.
She should have guessed the result.
Levi was known throughout Silver City as an unyielding and domineering figure in the business world.
How could he allow her to challenge his authority like this?
Turning around with her luggage, she was about to leave to find Levi when Kyle suddenly stopped her. His tone was provocative, almost malicious. “Being fired is no big deal, but do mind your attitude. The executives are having a meeting on the top floor, and it’s quite important. I heard Mr Rivera’s fiancée is here as well.”
