Chapter 87 Setting a Trap
“I will explain it to the public.”
Levi declared before leaving the room decisively. Simon slammed his coffee cup against the door upon Levi’s exit.
Simon took a deep breath, then made a phone call. “Hello, I need you to handle something for me. Handle it cleanly.”
“Gianna…” Simon’s eyes darkened with a sinister plan. “I’m going to teach you a lesson and make you understand the influence of the Turner family.”
A week later.
It was time for the meeting with Valken Group to discuss software updates.
Gianna and Erwin attended.
This time, the other directors of Valken Group were also present to discuss further technological
innovations.
As they entered the meeting room, Gianna noticed the tense atmosphere. Liam and Levi were sitting there in silence.
Gianna placed her bag down and asked, “Mr. Hill, why do you
look so grim?”
Liam remained silent, his hands folded on the table. His usually shrewd eyes, which were always accompanied by a smile, now displayed clear impatience.
He turned to Stacy, one of the directors of Valken Group, and instructed, “Explain the situation to Ms. Lewis.”
“Ms. Lewis, just an hour ago, numerous core encryption files for nanobots appeared on the dark web. Although no one has cracked the source code yet, it’s only a matter of time.”
Stacy’s gaze was icy. “I remember that the source code was shared with Empyrean Group just two days ago. How did it leak today?”
“Stacy, are you implying that someone from our Empyrean Group leaked the files?” Gianna responded with a faint smile, “We can’t make baseless accusations without solid evidence.”
“We shared the code with Empyrean Group, and this incident happened immediately afterward. It’s hard not to make connections.”
Stacy declared, “Is it possible that Ms. Lewis did this intentionally?” She seemed to be drawing a conclusion.
Gianna sneered and said, “Stacy, I’m starting to wonder how you became a director. Do you even have a brain?
“Sharing the source code for mass production and involvement in a medical project would earn us more money. Am I crazy to leak it to outsiders?”
Stacy, feeling mocked, clenched her hands on the table. “Perhaps Ms. Lewis is holding a grudge over the last time we failed to entertain her properly and is intentionally causing trouble for us?” Gianna’s cool gaze met Stacy’s, making Stacy suddenly feel uneasy. “Do you think everyone is as impulsive as you are?”
Stacy, unwilling to back down, was about to retort when Liam interrupted, “Enough, let’s be quiet for a moment.”

He furrowed his brow and asked Levi, “What do you think of this matter?”
Levi, who had been silent, glanced briefly at Gianna and then resumed his usual demeanor. “Ms. Lewis makes a valid point, and besides… I’ve worked with Ms. Lewis before, and she’s not the kind of person to let personal grudges affect her work.”
Gianna raised an eyebrow in response.
Levi was unexpectedly speaking up for her.
However, she didn’t feel grateful for it.
“Mr. Rivera, perhaps Ms. Lewis has changed her personality drastically after your divorce. You seem quite sure about her character, which could be seen as biased,” Stacy attempted to sow discord.
Levi’s cold gaze fell upon Stacy, and though his expression remained calm, it hinted at hidden anger. He spoke firmly, which was rare for him, “Shut
up.”
Stacy had never been spoken to like this before. Her face shifted through various shades of red and then finally, she fell silent.
“Now is not the time to pursue the leaker. The ciphertext on the source code is likely to be cracked within half a day,” Liam said.
His face displayed signs of nervousness. The nanobots were crucial for Valken Group’s financial reports over the next five quarters, and he was unwilling to let them be exposed so easily for others to benefit from.
“I just checked, and the news has already spread. In just thirty minutes, Valken Group’s stock price dropped by ten percent, and it’s still falling,” Liam reported.
“If it’s truly cracked, there’s no need for a meeting and discussion!”
Shareholders began to express their concern
These words sent shivers down the spines of everyone present.
Liam’s somber tone and choice of words conveyed the seriousness of the situation, suggesting that it was akin to a building collapsing.
“The source code won’t leak.”
Gianna’s cold voice echoed through the conference room.
Everyone looked up in surprise.
A fleeting smile played on Stacy’s face, but she tried to maintain a facade of doubt while wearing a concerned expression. She responded, “Ms. Lewis, you’re talking nonsense. The hackers on the dark web are world–class experts.”
