Chapter 86 Qualified Identity
“As the fiancé of Ms. Turner?” Gianna pronounced each word with her red lips.
“Or as my ex–husband? Think about it for yourself, which identity is qualified?”
Levi was taken aback.
He had crossed a line.
The person least qualified to ask that question was him.
He had been with Naomi, helping her pick out a wedding ring. What right did he have to interrogate Gianna?
Levi strode over to Naomi’s side and said, “Let’s go.”
Naomi appeared triumphant and said, “But, Levi, we haven’t picked out the ring yet.”
“We can choose something else.”
Naomi quickly followed him and latched onto Levi’s arm. She spoke gently, “Walk slowly, darling.”
The two of them left rapidly, and Gianna’s smile gradually faded.
Thiago, with his handsome face, scrutinized Gianna closely. “Are you really upset?”
“If you say one more word, I’ll tell Chaim you’re bullying me!” Gianna threatened.
Thiago pleaded, “No, don’t. Chaim asked me to take care of you. If you report me, I’ll be in big trouble!”
At the Lewis House.
Maverick had been sitting in the living room for quite some time. He watched as the two of them. returned with shopping bags, and with a pout, he said, “Gianna, you and Thiago went shopping. How come you didn’t invite me?”
Thiago and Maverick had known each other since childhood, and they always bickered when they
met.
But it was mainly Thiago bullying Maverick because Maverick had once called Gianna an “ugly duckling,” leading to Thiago’s lifelong dislike of him. Not to mention, Thiago never told Maverick that Gianna wasn’t ugly but actually stunning.
“I only found out about it from trending news, so I came here as soon as I got off the plane,” Maverick said as he leaned on the sofa pillows, clearly showing signs of fatigue from the journey. Gianna switched to a more business–like tone. “How’s the project going?”
Maverick had been busy with international projects lately.
“Don’t worry, Ms. Lewis,” he said with twinkling eyes, “We’re home now, so let’s not talk about work.”
“If she’s not talking about work with you, what else would she talk about?” Thiago picked up a throw pillow and tossed it playfully at Maverick.
“Ideals, life, perhaps! Anything better than putting on a show like your proposal in a jewelry \store,” Maverick replied.
He unlocked his phone and added, “Take a look. Your hashtag is trending at number one. Your fans must be absolutely envious of Gianna right now.”
Thiago responded with an exaggerated eye roll, “My fans love Gianna too much. No need to fret
about that.”
Chapter 86 Qualified Identity
Maverick appeared to have caught wind of some gossip. “Oh dear, is Levi really going to get engaged to Naomi?”
He shook his head in disbelief. “The folks in our circle are all abuzz about how he’s marrying into wealth. I just want to say he’s absolutely blind to pass up Gianna, a billionaire goldmine, and remain clueless.”
Maverick had no intention of spilling the beans to Levi. A secret of this magnitude should be unleashed on him without any prior warning.
“Isn’t the one who’s truly blind you?” Gianna shot a dangerous smile at Maverick, and he immediately straightened up, feeling a shiver down his spine.
Gianna didn’t easily forget grudges, and he had chosen the worst topic to bring up.
The root cause of it all was that he and Gianna had missed their opportunity, which had allowed Levi to swoop in.
Thiago chuckled as he watched them and chimed in, “Exactly!”
After dinner, Maverick lingered at the front door, grinning. “The Lewis House has so many rooms, so how about letting me stay here for the night?”
“Get lost!” Before Gianna could respond, Thiago playfully gave Maverick a kick in the backside.
In the Turner Group’s Chairman’s Office.
Levi was summoned into the office by Simon.
“I heard from Naomi that you’re not even willing to pick out a ring. Is that true?” Simon’s tone was calm but carried a hint of reprimand.
Levi replied in a serious tone, “Regarding the marriage with Naomi, I need more time to think.” He hadn’t completely moved on from his previous marriage, and in recent days, his thoughts had been consumed by Gianna.
Agreeing to the engagement was an impulsive decision for him.
Or rather, even getting divorced had been impulsive.
Upon hearing Levi’s response, Simon slammed his hand on the desk, and his eyes sparkled with anger. “You’ve already
