Chapter 55 Withdraw the Investment
Gianna had basically finalized the three–party cooperation between the Valken Group and the Rivera Group. After confirming that there were no issues with the contract, the next step was to discuss the details. Since the Empyrean Group and the Rivera Group were providing both funding and resources, it was necessary to clarify the details of the collaboration.
After all, even a small omission could lead to losses of millions of dollars in profits, and no one wanted their money to go up in smoke.
Gianna opened the project document and frowned when she noticed something. She asked, “Why aren’t the personnel from our Empyrean Group included in any of the communication projects?” When the three companies collaborated, it was common knowledge to engage in strategic resource sharing. However, the document clearly stated resource sharing between the Valken Group and the Rivera Group but neglected to include the Empyrean Group.
“These projects were previously handled by the Rivera Group and the Valken Group. Adding the Empyrean Group’s personnel would only slow down the progress. Once we have the results, we will naturally inform you,” replied Merle Schultz, a female director sent by the Valken Group. She appeared to be around forty years old and well–maintained.
Gianna noticed that Merle’s expression was stiff while speaking and guessed that she might have received Botox injections.
Oh, really?” Gianna nodded, seemingly agreeing with Merle’s statement.
Gianna closed the project document and smiled lightly. “So, Ms. Schultz, could you explain why, after signing the contract, our side still cannot access the core technology of the nano–robots?” Merle picked up a glass of water and took a sip. She was already prepared for this question and replied, “We need Mr. Hill to come back and address this issue. If there’s an accidental technology leak, it would be unfavorable for the Valken Group.”
Merle glanced sideways at Levi and realized that he had no intention of speaking, which made her feel more relieved.
Merle showed no concern about Levi’s objection as she openly opposed Gianna. After all, their previous divorce had caused a lot of commotion, and Merle believed that Levi must be hoping for her to confront Gianna.
Gianna smirked and said, “Ms. Schultz, are you suggesting that the Empyrean Group can only access the core technology when Mr. Hill returns? And if Mr. Hill decides not to come back from overseas, we would have to invest without any benefits. Is that it?”
“Ms. Lewis, please don’t misunderstand. We are only considering security and confidentiality.” Merle smiled and turned to the department heads, asking, “Isn’t it right?”
No one said a word, clearly acquiescing to Merle’s actions.
Levi sat on the side like a bystander, observing Gianna silently without saying a word.
Seeing this, Gianna said lightly, “Then let’s terminate the contract.”
Merle’s expression changed. She knew that if the Empyrean Group withdrew its investment due to her provocation, she would definitely face severe consequences when Liam returned.
“Ms. Lewis, are you joking? All three of us have already signed the contract. Withdrawing now would be a breach,” Merle said anxiously.
“Breach of contract is not a problem,” Gianna replied nonchalantly.

Merle placed the water glass down and said nervously, “If you do that, the Empyrean Group will have to pay a hefty penalty!”
“We are not short of money. Instead of spending it to play your game, we might as well throw it away,” Gianna threatened with a flash of determination in her eyes. She added, “After all, as long as the Empyrean Group obstructs you in the subsequent medical development projects, the money will come back, won’t it?”
Merle felt a chill run down her spine, and she broke into a cold sweat
The Valken Group needed funding from the Empyrean Group and, more importantly, the extensive medical system it possessed for promotion. After terminating the contract, the Valken Group would inevitably become enemies with the Empyrean Group. As a result, their nano–robot project might also be banned.
Merle had worked hard to attract investment from the Empyrean Group through Enrick, and she didn’t want the project to fall apart due to these trivial matters.
She now deeply regretted falling for Enrick’s manipulation. It turned out that her plan to suppress Gianna and gain more profits was just a joke.
“Ms. Lewis, please don’t be angry. We can still negotiate. Why don’t we continue following the contract, and I’ll arrange for someone to handle the problems you proposed immediately.” Merle suggested.
“If we can negotiate…” Gianna glanced at the department heads, who looked shocked, and said, “I heard that some people find it troublesome to add my personnel to the project. So, those who find it troublesome, please raise your hands, and you can automatically resign after this meeting.”
These words caused an uproar among the people. The department heads had omitted the Empyrean Group’s personnel at Merle’s request, and now they realized they were being held accountable!
“The contract clearly states that the Empyrean Group has the right to appoint and dismiss the project managers. Am I right, Ms. Schultz?”
Merle was cornered by Gianna, her smile becoming increasingly stiffened. “Ms. Lewis, if you fire them, how can we continue the projects?”
“If the managers leave, we can promote the deputy managers. If there’s no backup personnel, then I might start doubting Valken Group’s capabilities.” Gianna smiled insincerely and casually remarked, “That would make breaching the contract even more necessary.”
