Chapter 382 Confused Memories
It wasn’t until they reached the laboratory’s entrance that Kelly pointed to a room on the far right. of the second floor and said, “He should be in there. Let’s go.”
Gianna followed closely behind. The laboratory’s door was slightly ajar, and Kelly knocked lightly, asking, “William, are you in?”
There was no response.
Kelly pushed the door open, and they both proceeded along the corridor until Gianna spotted a man with slightly graying hair wearing a white lab coat. He was deeply engrossed in an experiment, holding a pipette and carefully transferring liquid into a gla*s vial, causing a dazzling burst of light.
William had a satisfied smile as he paused, recording the data with a pen. When he finished the series of steps, he removed his safety goggles and walked over to them. “William! You’re back to your experiments.”
But William seemed excited. “I made a breakthrough in this set of data. Finally, there’s a direction. for
my upcoming paper at the end of the month.”
With that, William turned his attention to Gianna and asked, “Who’s this?”
Gianna stepped forward and introduced herself. “Sir, I’m Gianna, a former student at the School of Design.”
William nodded, his face lighting up with recognition. “School of Design, which year?”
“The cla*s of 2019.”
William understood and asked, “I have vivid memories of both the 2018 and 2019 cla*ses, especially Susan, who was one year ahead of you. She used to be my student, and now she’s a renowned designer internationally…”
Gianna hadn’t expected William to bring up Susan voluntarily. It ignited her confidence. “Well, William, would it be possible for you to provide me with some information about Susan?”
William removed his gloves and observed her, his eyes filled with skepticism. He reached for a cup of water and took a sip before speaking slowly, “That girl was quite unfortunate. She had great design talent and was ambitious, but her life took a dark turn. She got into a car accident during her time at school, lost both her parents, and had to drop out. After a long period of treatment, she managed to recover. It’s heartwarming to see how far she’s come.”
“You mean she never actually graduated?”
“That’s correct. She had great skill. In her sophomore year, our school organized the Design. Competition, and she won the gold award.”
At this, Gianna was taken aback. “You mean the Design Competition from my freshman year? The one that was a joint event with three schools? And Susan won the gold award?”
William nodded. “Yes, shortly after that competition, she had the accident and dropped out…” “That doesn’t make sense, Sir…” Gianna’s voice began to quiver, and she continued, “I won the gold award in that same competition, and I still have the trophy and certificate at home!”
Upon hearing this, William was equally incredulous, his brow furrowing.
He raised the gla*ses perched on his nose and adopted a serious tone. “Are you sure, young lady? Are you perhaps mistaken?”
Gianna found the situation absurd. How could she possibly be mistaken about something like
this?
“Sir, please think about it carefully. Was Susan really the gold award winner from that year?” William seemed to be growing irritated, thinking that Gianna was questioning him. His expression darkened further. “There were videos and photos documenting that competition. If you doubt it, I can show them to you.”
