Chapter 383 Blurred Reality
William took out his phone and logged into his Google Drive.
His fingers swiped rapidly across the screen and stopped at the year 2019. He then handed the phone to Gianna.
“I was a judge for that event, and there are video and photo records of the entire competition. Watch the awards ceremony video from that time. You’ll see if she was the first-place winner.” Gianna accepted the phone, and opened the award ceremony video, but found no trace of herself. Instead, Susan stood on the highest podium, receiving the trophy from William.
Gianna’s mind was in chaos.
The world seemed absurd, and she couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
She fl*pped through the image files again, only to find that her name was indeed missing from the list of participants.
She knew for a fact that she had triumphed in the competition, advancing through three challenging rounds to reach the finals, where she had secured the championship.
“This can’t be real… can it?” Gianna asked Kelly.
She placed all her hopes on Kelly, hoping that her friend would vouch for her and confirm that those events had truly happened.
But when confronted with what seemed like undeniable evidence, Kelly hesitated. She simply pursed her l*ps and suggested, “Gianna, could it be that you’ve mistaken the year? Perhaps you. didn’t participate in this edition.”
Gianna shook her head firmly.
“No, I couldn’t be wrong,” Gianna said firmly.
She wouldn’t forget something like this. It was the first time she won her first major design award.
She could never forget something like that.
William and Kelly exchanged a worried glance. Kelly stepped forward and gently grasped Gianna’s arm, trying to comfort her. “Gianna, has something happened to you?”
Gianna remained silent and didn’t respond..
William continued, “Susan was an extremely talented student I’ve encountered over the years. If it weren’t for that accident, her life might have turned out differently…”
His words were full of regret.
Gianna felt even more lost. She couldn’t find any solid ground to stand on. Instead, she felt as though she was the one who was shamefully accused of plagiarism.
Just then, her phone rang in her pocket.
Gianna snapped back to reality, retrieved her phone, and upon seeing the caller ID, her eyes narrowed. She answered the call.
“I heard you returned to Colobiye. Is that true?”
Susan’s voice sounded mocking on the other end.
Gianna let out a cold hum and questioned, “You’re behind all of this, aren’t you?”
Susan laughed on the phone, her laughter sounding hearty. Gianna silently clenched her fist.
“I
suppose you’ve already found some information and come to realize the undeniable fact that
you copied my work.
“I’m not asking for much, just a billion dollars. It’s just a drop in the bucket for you. I don’t lack these few pennies. I just want to nail you to the cross of shame.
“Gianna, think carefully. Any problem that can be solved with money is not a problem. There’s no need to struggle.”
Gianna’s face flushed with anger.
She had to admit that Susan was a master manipulator.
She had almost fallen into the web of self-doubt if it weren’t for this phone call.
“Real or fake, true or false, Susan, do you really think there are no loopholes in any
of this?”
