Chapter 313 Smiling Mask
Unaware of the incident, Jax asked with confusion, “What about it?”
Gianna maintained a strained smile and replied, “Jax, there’s no need to pretend you don’t know.”
Jax’s expression darkened, and he turned to Gunner at his side, demanding, “What’s happening?
up on Ms. Lewis’ bad side? Give me the whole story.”

Gunner’s face soured, and he leaned in to speak quietly to Jax. Upon hearing the details, Jax slammed his hand on the table, exclaiming, “You reckless fool!”
Gunner was startled but quickly attempted to soothe the situation. “Jax, please, don’t be acted impulsively in the heat of the moment…”
Jax controlled his anger in Gianna’s presence.
angry. I
Gunner had been Jax’s right-hand man for many years, and it seemed unlikely that Jax would take drastic action against Gunner over Gianna.
With a forced smile, Jax continued, “Ms. Lewis, I believe there might be some misunderstanding here.”
Gianna sensed his intention and responded, “Jax, I nearly lost my life. Are you trying to tell me it’s all a misunderstanding?”
Jax, fully aware of Gianna’s status, refrained from directly challenging her due to her formidable position. Despite his influence in Silver City, he couldn’t risk openly confronting Gianna. Instead, he adopted the role of a peacemaker and poured a gla*s of ale, extending it to Gianna. “Ms. Lewis, my man acted impulsively and offended. This ale is my way of apologizing. Can we set our differences aside and avoid further pursuing this matter?” Jax suggested.
Gianna responded with a cold scoff and knocked over the ale gla*s with a swift movement of her hand, causing it to shatter upon impact with the floor.
Gunner, growing increasingly agitated, couldn’t hold back his frustration. “Gianna, you’re pushing it! Jax has already humbled himself and offered an apology. What more do you want?”
Gianna lifted her gaze to meet Gunner’s eyes and replied, “What do I want? It’s quite simple. I want your life.”
Her words carried a chilling weight, sending a shiver through the room. No one had anticipated that a woman could exude such an overpowering presence.
After a brief pause, Gunner let out a cynical laugh and taunted Gianna. “You want my life? Well, that depends on whether you have what it takes.”
Gianna lowered her gaze, seemingly casual but with an underlying menace. “If Hacked the capability, I wouldn’t have come here today,” Gianna retorted with an unwavering tone.
“Ms. Lewis, there’s no need to get upset. Getting angry isn’t good for your well-being,” Jax urged, attempting to diffuse the tension.
Gianna decided to play along, considering Jax’s plea. Nonetheless, her resolve to confront Gunner remained unwavering. This man, who had come dangerously close to ending her life, was a debt she intended to collect today.
“Jax, give me an answer. Will you hand him over or not?” Gianna pressed on.
Growing anxious, Jax remained silent, but Gunner urged him, “Jax, we can’t let a woman boss us around like this. Who does she think she is? Just give the word, and I’ll take her on directly…”

Jax made a gesture, and Gunner fell silent instantly.
Jax stood up, returned to his seat, and looked at the chessboard before him. Then he said, “Ms. Lewis, how about a game?”
“Jax, are you seriously suggesting a chess game at a moment like this? This woman’s arrogance is off the charts, and I’m tempted to put her in her place right here and now,” Gunner interjected.
“Shut up.”
Jax lost his temper!
Jax, wearing a smiling mask since Gianna’s arrival, finally let his frustration show. He appeared visibly irritated, a stark departure from his earlier demeanor.
Gunner, realizing the situation, wisely kept his silence and stood to the side.
