Kaylee responded with an affirmative hum and continued, “That darn troublemaker is getting more audacious with each pa*sing day.”
Gianna quickly rea*sured her, “If you want to bring someone down, you got to let them pump up that ego first. It’s high time I dealt with her.”
Gianna’s eyes concealed a subtle sharpness.
After hanging up the phone, Raymond entered the room and reported. “Ms. Lewis, I’ve contacted. Jax. He’s scheduled to meet us tomorrow at eight o’clock in the evening at the Hydra Haven.”
A wicked smile tugged at the corners of Gianna’s l*ps as she replied, “Tell him we’ll be there on. time.”
Raymond added, “Should we inform the Flenning headquarters and arrange for some backup?”
Gianna replied, “No need. We’ll bring our local security team along. We’ll have an open and straightforward meeting. This is a law-abiding society. They wouldn’t be foolish enough to take any reckless actions.”
“Understood, Ms. Lewis.”
After Raymond left, Gi
gazed through the window, taking in the cityscape below.
Her fingers tapped rhythmically on the desk as if she were calculating something.
The next evening, a team of well-trained b*dyguards gathered outside the Empyrean Group at seven o’clock, awaiting Gianna. She hadn’t informed anyone else and was heading to the meeting
alone.
She stepped into a modified black car with a sleek and sophisticated appearance. The vehicle smoothly followed the road until it reached its destination at Hydra Haven.
“Ms. Lewis, we’re here.”
Dressed in a black jumpsuit, Gianna commanded attention as she stepped out of the car, her face devoid of emotion. As she approached the entrance, a voice greeted her. “Ms. Lewis, you’ve got some nerve coming here alone. Quite impressive.”
Gianna lifted her gaze and spotted a man in his early forties seated at the head of the table. He had a robust build, bearing signs of middle-aged weight gain.
“Jax, I’ve heard so much about you!”
As Gianna pressed forward, she couldn’t help but notice the man seated beside Jax. From the moment she had arrived, his unwavering gaze had been locked onto her.
Gianna recognized him!
He was the man in the photo with Naomi, Gunner Mercer.
Gunner’s eyes narrowed with calculation.
“Ms. Lewis, please have a seat!” Jax welcomed Gianna and then instructed someone to show her the ale collection.
“What are you waiting for? Serve Ms. Lewis the finest ale,” he commanded.
Gianna didn’t flinch.
She kept her eyes fixed on the chessboard in front of Jax. The chess game had reached a stalemate, with neither side having a clear advantage.

“Ms. Lewis, do you have any insights on this chess game?” Jax couldn’t help but ask, a glimmer of surprise in his eyes.
He was a man with no other interests in life.
Throughout his lifetime, he had harbored a deep pa*sion for chess, yet he hadn’t encountered a worthy opponent for many years, which had left him quite frustrated.
Gianna hadn’t come to play chess today. She was here to seek an explanation.
So, she smiled calmly and replied, “I’ve played chess casually, but I’m far from being an expert. My skills aren’t suited for high-level play.”
Gunner, seated nearby, couldn’t resist a smirk. “Ms. Lewis, you’re being too modest,” he said with a grin.
Then, Gunner turned to Jax and suggested, “Jax, how about a game with Ms. Lewis?”
Jax was intrigued and agreed, “Why not? Ms. Lewis, what do you think?”
Gianna raised an eyebrow and remained focused on her objective. She stated, “Jax, shouldn’t you give me an explanation regarding the recent activities of your a*sociates in Dawn City?”
