Chapter 3 Win Over
“When did you meet her?”
When she stood in the dim bedroom light, leaning on her cane, Levi realized she had become much thinner compared to when they married three years ago.
She seemed as though a gust of wind might blow her over.
“You’ve been following me?” Levi’s expression quickly darkened.
“Am I really that idle? We were at the same hospital yesterday. I’ve seen you two with my own eyes,” she said softly, but her words were very clear.
Her heart had already become a tangled mess as she uttered these words.
There was a touch of irritation on his face.
She recalled that he hadn’t even said a word to her since the plane crash, and his disgust and impatience felt so real with every word he uttered.
Their three–year marriage was like a blank piece of paper now.
She served his mother–in–law, took care of her sister–in–law, who disliked her, played the role of a servant at home, and worked diligently as a secretary in the company.
She did it all just to please Maya and wanted to give birth to a son and a daughter, so he could value her.
Even if he had the slightest bit of affection for her, it would have been enough to comfort her after her three years of hard work
But what was the result?
Three years had passed, and she hadn’t even touched his finger.
Even when they were in the same room, they were not on the same bed. Suppressing the pain in her body, she met Levi’s cold and icy gaze.
She didn’t know how she found the courage, but she suddenly chuckled.
“Your mother said I was infertile, but you managed to impregnate another woman. Where does that leave my dignity?”
She looked up, her body supported by the cane swaying, but it didn’t stop her from reaching out her right hand to touch his clothes.
But the next moment, his hand with distinct knuckles grabbed hers.
Levi looked at her with extreme coldness. “Naomi isn’t just another woman. I’ve known her for over twenty years.”
So, they were childhood sweethearts…
She felt his hand tighten in hers..
“She went abroad for five years, and we never contacted each other during that time.”
Gianna was taken aback. No wonder she hadn’t found any traces…
Thinking about that woman being pregnant, she rasped her voice and looked up to question, “So, you’re back together now?”
Levi’s throat moved. He had intended to explain something but then felt it wasn’t necessary. His gaze deepened as he stared at her. “Have you forgotten why I chose you to be the Rivera
family’s young mistress?”
She wouldn’t have forgotten even if he hadn’t brought it up.
The Rivera Group had many branches, and countless people coveted the position of heir to the Rivera Group. Maya had intentionally selected an unmarried woman from Silver City to marry Levi and bear him a child, ensuring stability within the group.
As someone who had once saved Maya’s life, she volunteered.
She had approached Levi voluntarily, indicating that she wouldn’t interfere in his affairs, even agreeing to a secret marriage and closing her thriving designer boutique. She willingly became his secretary, managing various affairs within the Rivera Group.
Now Levi was telling her she had gone too far.
She smiled, “I haven’t forgotten… But people are always greedy, aren’t they?”
Her eyes were bright, but her face was pale. If it weren’t for that faint smile, she would have looked like someone from hell.
For a moment, Levi felt she had changed, though he couldn’t figure it out…
Until his hand was empty…
Gianna easily withdrew her hand from his grasp.
The window in the spacious bedroom was closed, and a fragrant scent filled the room, growing stronger.
The room temperature was gradually rising.
He glanced and saw the thermostat displaying 86 degrees Fahrenheit.
Levi’s expression grew even darker, especially when she reached directly into his shirt.
As her breathing grew more erratic, his face showed annoyance, yet he lacked the strength to push her away.
“What have you done?”
