Chapter 2 A Match Made in Heaven
“Mr. Rivera treats his girlfriend so well. Who could be so lucky as to be Mr. Rivera’s girlfriend? It seems they will make their relationship public soon!”
“I’ve searched. Do you think it’s her?”
The nurse pushing the equipment cart took the phone from the person beside her. With just a glance, she exclaimed, “Yes, it’s her! Wow. Isn’t she the heiress of the Turner Group? Her background and appearance match Levi perfectly. Truly a match made in heaven!”
As they continued to express their amazement, their voices gradually faded away.
Turner Group…
After completing the discharge procedures and getting into the car sent by the butler, Gianna remained restless.
The faint light from her phone screen below the slightly open car window illuminated her pale face. She searched for various information but found no connection between the Turner and Rivera families.
This was far from normal for the two prominent families in Silver City.
When she returned to Rivera Manor, the living room’s lights were still on.
When she looked around, she found her cousin, who wasn’t really like her, was not there. Only Maya stood with a crutch, waiting for her. “Gianna, you’re really lucky. I got so scared I thought was having a heart attack!“.
“Maya, I’m fine.”
Gianna had a smile, quickly making up an excuse to go upstairs and rest. “I’m feeling a bit tired.” “Alright, go rest. I’ve already contacted Levi, and he’ll be back soon!”
Gianna hesitated for a moment. That pain washed over her again, making her expression extremely unpleasant.***
So, Levi had been avoiding only her.
Maya believed that Gianna was simply upset due to Levi’s absence.
Little did she know that the appearance of that woman was like a thorn stuck deep within Gianna’s heart, making all her persistence seem laughable.
Levi returned to Rivera Manor on the second night.
The bedroom was pitch black, and he turned on the light. The dim light illuminated his face, revealing a hint of displeasure. “You’re still awake? Why didn’t you turn on the lights?”
By this time, Gianna had been lying in bed the entire day.
She had hardly eaten or drunk anything. The meals the butler had brought were left untouched on the bedside table, now cold.
“Where have you been these past two days?”
She turned away from him, her figure appearing somewhat gaunt. Her voice was hoarse, tinged with weariness.
Levi had just taken off his suit jacket, and upon hearing her question, he paused visibly. His brow furrowed as he glanced in the direction of the bedside.
In three years of their marriage, it was the first time he had heard her inquire about his
whereabouts with this tone.
“Something came up at the Verdant City branch, so I went to deal with it.”
He replied coolly, his mood growing restless as he loosened his tie and headed straight for the bathroom.
“Is that so?” Gianna laughed softly, her voice echoing in the bedroom. “I asked Jason, and there was no record of your flight to Verdant City on the itinerary.”
Her tone carried a touch of irony that was hard to ignore.
“What do you want to say?”
Levi abruptly halted at the bathroom doorway.
Even without making eye contact with him, Gianna could sense the overwhelming aura he exuded.
She knew it was a sign that Levi was getting angry.
