Chapter 268 First Encounter
Vicky, the original president’s a*sistant who had been demoted by the company after their last meeting, now held a position in the sales department as a manager.
She was not pleased with this change.
She found Shawn several times in private but was ruthlessly rejected.
After contemplating, Vicky believed that there was only one person who could influence Shawn’s decisions significantly.
And that person was Gianna.
“Mr. Fallon!” Vicky nodded as she greeted Shawn and then turned to Gianna, her attitude still respectful. “Ms. Lewis.”
Gianna replied with a smile and then entered Shawn’s office.
Vicky, holding a pile of documents, followed her inside. “Mr. Fallon, there are several documents from the sales department that require your signature.”
Shawn gestured for her and sat down, took a pen, and signed his name on the papers with a flourish.
During Shawn’s absence, a backlog of work had accumulated. Gianna sat on the sofa and waited for him.
She took the magazine and fl*pped through it out of boredom.
When Shawn finished his work, she had already succumbed to drowsiness and fallen asleep on the couch.
Putting down the documents, Shawn carefully approached her, covering her with a thin blanket. At that moment, time seemed to stand still for him.
Shawn stared at her sleeping face. His thoughts suddenly drifted back to a long time ago.
Drifting back to when he was seven years old.
Shawn had always wished for a younger sister, someone cute and lovely with two little pigtails like the girl next to his house.
At that time, he was very envious and expressed his desire to his mother, Lily, repeatedly.
“Mom, can you give me a little sister?
“Mom, can I have a little sister, please?
“I promise to take good care of her and protect her…”
However, despite Lily’s own wish for a daughter, she faced significant health issues during Shawn’s, birth, making it difficult for her to conceive again.
“Darling, would I buy you a doll to be your little sister?”
But Shawn angrily pushed her away, saying, “I don’t want a doll. I want a little sister!”
Seeing this, Lily could only sigh in resignation.
Days pa*sed like this, yet his longing for a little sister never diminished.
He couldn’t remember which day it was.
All he knew was that it was a winter day, welcoming the long–lost sunshine.
That day, the sunshine.was bright and soft, with a hint of gentle sunshine in the clear blue sky.
“Shawn, come downstairs quickly. We have guests.”
Shawn descended the stairs with the rhythmic clatter of his Martin boots, and as he looked down, he saw an irresistibly adorable little girl.
She was dressed in a red riding outfit, looking astonishingly charming.
At that time, Gianna was just five years old!
Her big, round eyes stared straight at him, so soft and endearing. Lily introduced herself to her, saying, “Gianna, this is Shawn!”
Upon hearing this, Gianna responded with a big, sweet smile and called out to Shawn, “Shawn!”
Lily quickly beckoned him over.
Come over here. From now on, we will be living together!
Shawn was very happy, and he was determined to treat Gianna just like a little sister.
“Gianna likes horseback riding. Would it be okay if you take her to ride the pony at the front gate?” Lily sought his opinion.
Young Shawn, with a serious and solemn expression, nodded and said seriously, “Mom, I will take good care of her.”
It was Shawn’s first time taking care of a girl, and he was very attentive. He helped Gianna onto the horse with a stepstool. “Gianna, be good! Don’t touch the horse’s bottom!”
Gianna obediently nodded.
“I understand, Shawn!”
