Chapter 240 Such a Mess
“What are you doing?”
From the doorway, Levi’s voice emerged, laced with anger.
Without a moment’s hesitation, he strode in from the entrance directly to Gianna and forcefully grabbed her hand.
Before Gianna could even process what was happening, she found herself being pulled out of the
room.
“What was that?” Gianna looked up, her voice tinged with disbelief.
Levi frowned but didn’t offer an explanation. “Whatever you just saw, don’t overthink it.”
However, this only deepened Gianna’s confusion.
She grew to feel that there was some hidden secret she wasn’t privy to.
“This is all too strange,” Gianna murmured, recalling what she had just witnessed.
She finally landed her gaze on Levi and asked, “Why is your black and white photò hanging on the wall? Levi, are you a ghost?”
Levi’s irritation was palpable.
“Stop talking nonsense. You saw it wrong.”
“Did I?” Gianna pressed on. As she spoke, she noticed Levi’s tight grip on her hand. Without thinking, she yanked her hand free.
“The birthday party is about to start. Let’s head downstairs,” Levi said, his hand now empty, but his voice still carried a gentle tone.
Although Gianna felt bewildered, she considered the fact that Levi was standing right in front of her, alive and well.
“Where’s Maya? Is she alright?”
“What did you say?”
Gianna clarified, “I heard Maya wasn’t feeling well, so I came upstairs to check on her.”
Levi gave
her a suspicious look. “Maya is fine, but don’t come up here again.”
Gianna lowered her eyes and nodded in acknowledgment.
As they walked down the corridor, just as they reached the top of the staircase, something came hurtling down from above, flying directly at Gianna.
“Watch out!” Levi pulled her by the arm without thinking, placing himself between her and the flying object.
There was a loud “thud” as the object struck Levi squarely on his back. The next moment, he was covered head to toe in a myriad of paint colors.
He looked utterly disheveled.
Bystanders turned their heads, their expressions filled with astonishment. Levi felt incredibly embarrassed. He had never been caught in such an embarrassing situation before.
“Are you okay?” Gianna asked with concern. But the commotion drew a crowd.
“Levi…” Rebecca was the first to rush over, her face filled with concern. “What happened? How did
you
end up like this?”

Others around them echoed their confusion.
“Why would a huge bucket of paint fall from above?”
“Levi, are you alright? Did you get hurt?”
“Are you okay?”
There was a flurry of chatter and questions.
Aside from the stinging pain in his back, Levi was all right. However, the paint covering him needed to be cleaned off.
He looked over to Gianna, who had been pushed to the side by the crowd. Without hesitating, he approached her, “Gianna, can you help me clean this up?”
Gianna looked taken aback. “What did you say?”
Levi tried to reach out and pull her close, but she nimbly dodged him.
She appreciated that Levi had shielded her from the paint, but rumors would inevitably spread if she accepted his request in front of so many people.
“It’s okay, Levi. I’ll help you clean up…” Rebecca glared at Gianna before offering assistance.
