Chapter 239 Seeking Favor
For a moment, Gianna became the center of attention, pursued and admired by everyone like a star in the sky.
Seeing this, Maya looked pleased. In contrast, Sienna, who was seated in a corner of the hall, felt a growing frustration.
These people always chased after the latest trend.
They were like leaves blown by the wind. When she was in favor, they all flocked to her. Now, they all gravitated toward Gianna.
This reminded her of Alaia.
Alaia was still suffering in Afalia, while Gianna was flourishing. The thought weighed heavily on Sienna’s heart.
“Mom, she’s not even part of our family anymore. Why did you invite her?” Sienna questioned. Maya responded coldly, “Gianna is my guest. Since when do you have the right to question my decisions? If you have nothing better to do, go to the kitchen and stop being a nuisance here.” With no other option, Sienna headed toward the kitchen.
At that moment, Maya involuntarily clutched her chest, feeling a familiar ache.
Her old ailment seemed to be acting up again.
She stood and began to ascend the staircase.
“Gianna…” Rebecca wove through the crowd to greet her. Gianna had always held Rebecca in high regard. Rebecca was kind–hearted and had never treated her poorly like the other members of the Rivera family.
“Rebecca!” Gianna greeted with a smile.
Rebecca chuckled, “It’s been a while, and you’ve changed quite a bit.”
Gianna smiled playfully.
“Rebecca, you’ve become even more beautiful.” She seemed to remember something. “I just noticed that Maya seemed unwell. It looked like it was due to her heart condition.”
Concerned, Gianna asked, “Is Maya okay?”
Rebecca glanced around, seemingly casual. “It’s odd. Maya’s been gone for a while and hasn’t returned.”
Gianna became worried, scanning the crowd.
Not finding Maya among the guests, she said, “I’ll go upstairs to check on her.”
“Be careful,” Rebecca replied.
Gianna made her way to the staircase.
She had lived in Rivera Manor for three years and was familiar with its every nook.
She reached Maya’s room. “Maya, are you in there?”
There was no answer.
After looking around inside, she stepped out, only to encounter a housemaid.
“Mrs. Rivera!” The maid greeted her with the usual respect.
Gianna smiled. “Please, don’t call me Mrs. Rivera. Ms. Lewis will do.”

“Yes, Ms. Lewis.”
“Have you seen Maya?” Gianna inquired.
The maid pointed to the room on the far right. “I think Mrs. Maya Rivera went in there.”
After thanking the maid, Gianna approached the door.
However, she stopped after a few steps, recognizing the room in front of her.
It was Rivera Manor’s off–limits room.
Three years ago, on her first day at Rivera Manor, Maya had told her she could enter any part of the house except for that particular room.
“Maya, are you in there?” Gianna called out softly, not moving forward.
When there was no reply, Gianna turned to leave.
But just then, the door creaked open slightly.
Hesitating, Gianna reached out and pushed the door open.
Inside, ancient–looking furniture covered in dust greeted her. Sunlight streamed through the windows, creating an otherworldly illusion.
She took a couple of steps in, and then, as she lifted her eyes, she froze in place.
