Chapter 238 Sowing Discord
At present, Gianna’s status had transformed into something so noble. Many, drawn by the allure of power, sought to associate themselves with her. They flocked around her, trying to ingratiate themselves to Gianna.
This irked Rebecca deeply.
“Ruby, do you know why Alaia was banished to Afalia?” she inquired.
After Ruby’s marriage, she seldom concerned herself with the affairs of the Rivera family. Consequently, she was unaware of what had transpired with Alaia.
She had only heard from Sienna that Alaia had gone to Afalia to study,
However, Ruby knew that, no matter how destitute the Rivera family might become, they wouldn’t send a child to such a place as Afalia. But the specifics eluded her, prompting her to ask, “Do you know the details?”
Rebecca pointed toward Gianna amidst the crowd.
“What other reason could there be? It’s because of her,” Rebecca declared.
“You mean Gianna? Does she truly have that much influence?” Ruby questioned.
Rebecca exuded an aura of superiority. “Have you forgotten how my second aunt and Alaia used to mistreat her? This is Gianna’s idea of revenge. ‘A gentleman takes his revenge ten years later if necessary.’ Now that she has power, she’s made Alaia pay. I’ve heard Levi has announced that Alaia probably won’t be returning in this lifetime.”
Ruby felt a pang of apprehension in her heart.
“Is Gianna so vindictive?” she mused aloud.
She herself hadn’t always been kind to Gianna, often mocking her for “turning from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan.” If Gianna were to settle scores now, Ruby would undoubtedly find herself in a difficult spot.
“Ruby, what you don’t know is, it’s not just Alaia. Even my second aunt couldn’t avoid her wrath,” Rebecca added.
“What? But she’s Gianna’s mother–in–law, a senior member of the family! How could Gianna be so audacious? This is outrageous!” Ruby exclaimed.
Sensing that Ruby was getting worked up, Rebecca stoked the fire further.
“They’re already divorced. Levi’s mother isn’t her mother–in–law anymore. Perhaps that’s why she’s become so unbridled. Especially toward people like you…”
Ruby felt a chill.
Her marital family held no significant influence, just ordinary folk. They were worlds apart from the elite Lewis family. If Gianna truly targeted her, wouldn’t it be as easy as crushing an ant?
Ruby gripped Rebecca’s arm and pleaded, “Rebecca, I watched you grow up. What should I do now? Maybe I should go and apologize? I just hope she can spare me.”
As Ruby was about to move to apologize, Rebecca held her back. “It’s futile, Ruby. She doesn’t regard you highly anymore. She could easily have helped resolve my uncle’s small work issue if she did. The only reason she hasn’t is that she looks down on you, on your entire family.”
Ruby’s face flushed with anger.
She glared at Gianna from a distance. “Bitch!”

“That’s what I’m saying, Ruby. If you go to apologize, who knows how she might humiliate you,”
Rebecca advised.
Ruby was at a loss. “Then what do you suggest?”
Rebecca smirked, “It’s simple. If she’s ruthless, she can’t blame us for being unkind. Want to teach her a lesson? Isn’t it easy?”
Leaning in, Rebecca whispered something into Ruby’s ear.
Upon hearing that, Ruby grinned, “You’re right. It’s better to strike first. I’m a senior. How can I let her walk all over me?”
Watching Ruby’s reaction, Rebecca couldn’t help but think, “Such an idiotic fool!”
Among the guests in the Rivera Manor, many sought to connect with the influential Lewis family, given Gianna’s newfound status. They eagerly engaged Gianna in conversation.
