Chapter 42
“Where is Alaric?” I asked eying all three of them. They acted as if they didn’t hear me so I asked again.
Again I didn’t get a reply.
“Dean?”
He didn’t answer me, his attention was focused on the game and as was Elijah’s.
Adam, on the other hand, looked at me with what seemed like sympathy.
“He’s busy Valerie, he’ll come when he’s ready,” Adam said. I took the time to actually look. at him, his hair was a lot lighter than Alaric almost like a honey blonde. He had blue eyes and sharp features and in comparison to Elijah, he had a more approachable face.
Elijah was móre on the rough around the edges, with his hair so short and his piercing green eyes. He didn’t look as approachable as Adam. Both males were tall and bulky, they had to be because of their position in the pack.
And then there was Dean, the friendly Delta was my main protector and guard. Just like Elijah and Adam he was tall but not as bulky, he was muscular in a leaner way. His caramel skin was golden and showed that he had no issues when it came to tanning. Overall, these three males together looked like a photo shoot waiting to happen. However, they weren’t Alaric. They weren’t as tall as him or even as muscular as him. But they all still intimidated
- me.
I didn’t reply to Adam, I didn’t know what to say. A part of me couldn’t help but feel disappointed in Alaric. At times he was cold and then there were times when he was warm, did he even want me as a mate?
The bitch anxiety got into my head and I began to remember all the things Alpha Shields has ever said to me. I was a weak girl, not worthy of being mated to someone as powerful as Alaric. Today had just shown how weak I was.
A few hours pa*sed, I had done nothing but sit and watch as Elijah, Adam and Dean watched the football game. A few times they would shout at the TV screen and swear if the wrong throw was made or the opposing team scored. It was funny to see but at the same time, it was utterly boring.
I wasn’t sure what time it was but I had slowly started to close my eyes. My eyes had opened quickly when realised I was in a room with three other males who didn’t need to
hear me snore.
Pushing the blanket off me, I slowly stood up and cleared my throat. Within a second they -were all stood up, looking at me with interest.
“I’m gonna head off to sleep,” I said awkwardly. “Goodnight.”
They nodded their heads and sat back down.
“We’ll be here until Alaric comes back,” Elijah said, his facial expression as neutral as ever.
Sleep came easy to me for once. I was mentally exhausted and drained and as soon as I was
comfortable in Alaric’s bed I was sound asleep.
Black eyes stared at me with a wicked glint. The red lines on their pupils were fiery and dangerous. His white skin was luminous and translucent. The vampire stood a foot away from me, eying me dangerously. I was frozen on the spot, unable to move a muscle, the vampire took that as an advantage and within a second he was stood in front of me.
I could feel my heart beating in my chest, the beats were irregular as fear consumed me.
“The Demon Alpha’s purple–eyed mate,” he smirked leaning in closer to me. I wanted to move, and step away but there was nowhere to run.
“P–please don’t hurt me,” I cried as the vampire drew closer to me.
“Aw sugar, you see I have to,” he said in an unapologetic tone. I could smell his rancid stench, it burned my nose, stinging it to the point that my eyes watered.
“P–please,” I begged.
The vampire laughed at me and drew his sharp teeth. Before I could scream or do anything, he leaned in and sunk his teeth into my neck.
My eyes flew open, as a shrieking scream erupted from me, feeling a burning pain in my neck. I tried to thrash my b*dy free, feeling a heavyweight pinning me down and holding me in an iron grip.
In my blurry vision, I could see that the iron grip belonged to Alaric Creed.
His huge b*dy hovered over me, one hand was pressed against my stomach holding me in place. His other hand was gripped under the back of my neck and as I slowly looked up at his face, I noticed that his mouth was covered in blood. It was only then that I remembered the pain in my neck, a severe throbbing ache. Slowly, I let my hand reach up to soothe the pain. My fingers grazed over a hot, sticky and wet substance, my b*dy trembled as I looked down at my fingers and saw red.
A strangled gasp left my mouth, my eyes met Alaric’s dark ones that flashed from red to black constantly. The same dark purple veins creased around his eyes, the exact thing had happened when he killed the vampire. Alaric did nothing but continue to hold me down, as I stared at him with cloudy vision. He didn’t even show a look of remorse or a look of regret. The Demon Alpha was emotionless as he stared at me blankly.
