Alpha Nick felt strange after gulping down the first drink. He felt hot and aroused, which was unusual for him. It was as if his mind was on the verge of exploding if he didn’t have a woman right then and there. It was unlike him to give in to his desires so quickly just because his b*dy craved it.
Even though he had discovered that Charlotte was his mate, he never forced himself to mate with her when she suggested a wedding. This feeling was so unfamiliar that he could only blame the drink for it.
Unable to stay at the event, he was about to head to the hotel room he had booked for himself and Charlotte in case they couldn’t make it back to the pack in time when he saw the waiter approaching Sheila.
Given how the drink was affecting him, he didn’t think she would be able to handle it with someone like Alpha Ansaldo by her side. He quickly rushed to stop her from taking the drink, suspecting that something might have been added to it.
Due to the crowded venue, Sheila had finished the entire glass before he reached her. She was so thirsty after talking to numerous people about her business that she couldn’t even sip her drink slowly.
The effects wouldn’t have been as severe if she hadn’t consumed so much at once. She was about to grab another drink from a different waiter when she started feeling strange.
When Alpha Nick approached her, she couldn’t recognize him due to her heightened libido. She grabbed him by the collar. “Hey, am I not beautiful?”

“Come with me,” he said and pulled her into the elevator, away from prying eyes. Sheila no longer cared about her image, acting clingy towards the man in the elevator with her.
“Kiss me,” Sheila suddenly said, her pouted, rosy lips enticing. Alpha Nick felt even hotter, his face flushing from discomfort. In a moment like this, he should have confided in his best friend, but the idiot was preoccupied with someone else’s mate.
“No. There is something wrong with the drinks here,” Alpha Nick refused to take advantage of her.

He was already loosening his tie, hoping it would alleviate his discomfort when he heard the elevator ding.

Alpha Nick smiled bitterly, pulling her out of the elevator with him as she clung tightly to his shirt, her b*dy pressing against his. Sheila had loved him for a long time, and from her confession, she was still in love with him.
But when did he help her? He couldn’t recall that part. Feeling his heart break, he could empathize with her pain. “No. He’s a jerk for ignoring you.”

The door to the presidential suite was in front of them, and he carried her inside bridal style. He wasn’t repulsed by Sheila as he was by his cheating mate, which was a relief. Even though they were both under the influence, he was still responsible and would take full accountability for his actions.
