Chapter 233 Where To Go
The painting lay spread out on the table, labeled with Eileen’s name.
Jasper’s fingers traced over the painting. “Is she the winner of this competition?” Every time. he came across something related to her, his emotions would subconsciously calm down.
Fabian replied, “The organizers sent this over. They want to hear your opinion.”
Truth be told, Fabian had always known that Eileen would definitely participate in this competition. She loved painting, and her skills were on par with any professional artist.
“Does she know that Smith Corporation is a co-organizer of this competition?” Jasper asked.
Fabian answered, “No one knows, so I a*sume Ms. Eileen is equally clueless.”
“That’s all for now.”
“Yes, Mr. Smith.”
Fabian left, closing the office door behind him. Jasper meticulously scanned every detail of the painting. She hasn’t contacted me these past few days because of this.
Eileen was clear-headed and knew exactly what she wanted. No matter what happened, she could always maintain a rational mind.
Sometimes, Jasper wished she would throw a tantrum instead of doing nothing at all. At least then he could feel that she cared for him, even if it was just a little.
Feeling upset that she had easily pushed him towards someone else, Jasper soon called the organizers.
One afternoon, five days later, Eileen asked, “Is there anything to eat, Mary? I’m hungry.” Eileen hadn’t changed her clothes for days. Her hair was clumped together and extremely greasy, while her b*dy emanated a peculiar odor.
Mary was picking vegetables when she saw Eileen looking disheveled. Her eyes widened in surprise, but she didn’t say anything. “Ms. Eileen, it’s not mealtime yet, but how about I make you some eggs and toast?”
“You’re not allowed to cook for her. From now on, if she’s hungry, she can come down to cat during mealtime. Otherwise, she’ll be spoiled.”
Eileen had finished all the snacks she had brought into the room. Running her hand through her hair, she looked as if she had just woken up. Squinting, she walked downstairs and saw Eric casually sitting on the couch. He had a laptop on his lap and seemed to be working on

Ignoring him, Eileen walked past him and went to the TV cabinet. She found that the snacks. that were usually stocked were gone, leaving only an empty plastic bag. It seemed like it was time to go shopping.
Eileen didn’t respond to his remarks. She closed the cabinet and headed back to the kitchen. Mary couldn’t bear it either. If this continued, Eileen would surely starve herself sick.
Opening the fridge, Eileen saw that it was filled with various vegetables and milk.
Eileen glanced through the fridge. Looking rather listless, she took out a bottle of chilled orange juice. “Where are the other housekeepers?”
Mary said, “Mr. Swan and Mrs. Swan might be gone for a long time, so they’ve let go of the other servants.”
“Then you should leave too. I’ll pay you three times your salary. It should be enough to sustain you until you find a new job.”
Mary was shocked at how quickly she lost her job.
She glanced cautiously at Eric, speaking timidly. “If I leave, there will be no one to clean the villa or cook for you.”
Eileen replied, “I won’t starve to death, nor do I need anyone to take care of me.”
After all, this home has long been broken. What’s the point in holding on?
Just as Eileen was about to head upstairs with a bottle of juice, someone suddenly blocked her path.
Before Eric could speak, Eileen, seemingly lifeless, looked at the staircase behind him. “You should go too. Don’t waste your time on me. I won’t die that easily.”
I have been alone in this house from the beginning to the end. Does it really matter if anyone is here or
not?
As she was about to ascend the stairs, Eric grabbed her hand. “Sharon had a car accident and is hospitalized after her surgery.”
Eileen’s gaze remained unbothered “Hmm, I wish her a speedy recovery then, but I won’t be visiting her
Regardless of how close her relationship with Sharon was, Eileen simply couldn’t face someone who had been drugging her for over a decade. In fact, she found it laughable that she had once considered this person her only family

Nevertheless, Eileen had long held such suspicions. She was just unable to face the reality.
Her breakdown was inevitable. The matter was just the last straw that broke the camel’s back.
She had wanted to deceive herself, but she simply couldn’t. She wanted to escape from her predicament, to forget everything, but she didn’t know when she would be able to do so.
Thus, she wondered if she was destined to muddle through the rest of her life like that, living without a purpose.
Eileen wrestled her hand free from his grip. Step by step, she ascended the staircase before. shutting herself away.
Compared to before, Eileen had improved significantly. At least she no longer locked herself in her room all the time. Now, she was just like a zombie, living without a soul.
When she stepped into the pitch-black room, it was as if she could once again see her mother sitting inside.
Her mother’s face remained hidden in the darkness. Even when she turned her head, her face was still unclear. Yet, her gentle voice could be heard. “Lenie, is there anything you want to tell me?”
Eileen replied, “Dad’s gone. He’s not coming back, and he left me all alone. But I still have you, Mom.”
“Mm-hmm.”
Eileen was groggily awakened by a knock at the door. “Ms. Eileen, your meal is ready. Would you like to come out and eat?”
A conversation was heard from the doorway. Eileen had just taken a sleeping pill, causing her head to feel heavy and foggy. She couldn’t quite make out what the people there were saying as she drifted back into a groggy slumber.
The lock turned, and the next moment, the door swung open. It was unlocked with a newly made key from before.
The room was filled with a musty air, carrying an unpleasant odor. It was as messy as ever. Eric reached out and found the switch on the wall. With a quick glance, he noticed a half- empty gla*s of water and an open bottle of sleeping pills on the bedside table.
As night fell, the effects of the sleeping pill wore off Fileen opened her eyes and woke up She noticed the open window, through which a pungent smell of smoke watted in
She coughed a few umes and sat up on the bed. A scattered pile of cigarette butts on the floor served as evidence of Eric’s heavy smoking As he entered the room, Eileen was reaching for

the sleeping pills on the bedside table, pouring two of them out.
“Are you planning to replace your meals with pills?” Eric asked.
Eileen struggled to lift her drooping eyelids. “It’s so late. Why haven’t you left yet?”
Eric walked over and slapped the pills out of her hand, saying, “Stop taking that stuff. It’s bad for your health.”
“Thanks for your concern, but I’m fine,” Eileen replied. She laid back down, turning her back to him and closing her eyes, forcing herself to sleep.
However, Eric remained in her room, showing no intention of leaving.
The room light was on, and Eileen’s alertness prevented her from falling asleep no matter what.
Therefore, Eileen threw off the covers and got out of bed, holding her pillow in her arms. Eric, who was sitting by her bed, asked, “Where are you going?”
“It’s not appropriate for a man and a woman to be alone together. I’ll sleep downstairs.”
