There she noticed another book pressed under his hand, which were the notes he had copied. Eileen tilted her head to look at the words he had written on the notebook. “Button up your clothes. It’s quite chilly tonight. Don’t let your condition worsen.”

Under the streetlight, Elm slightly lowered his head. A fleeting emotion flashed through his rebellious gaze. He wrapped his scarf around his neck again, a scarf that still held her sweet lingering scent.
After all was done, Eileen said, “Going to the hospital is too much of a ha*sle. Let me take you somewhere else.”

Yvette could sense the displeasure in Eric’s tone. She reined in her temperament and chose not to say anything more.
Eric stepped on the gas, quickly leaving the street behind.
Meanwhile, the pair walked through the pitch-black corridor, the path chillingly illuminated by the flickering flame of Elm’s lighter.
“There used to be streetlights here, but it seems like they’re broken,” she explained.
