Yvette had consumed too much alcohol, and Eric left her in the private room. The restaurant staff would ensure she made it home safely. Given her status, even if she ended up staying the night there, it wouldn’t be a big deal.
Eileen leaned against the wheelchair, feeling dizzy and weak. She had only had three drinks, yet she was already intoxicated. She hadn’t planned on drinking, but the fragrant wine with added mulling spices was too tempting, causing her to indulge in a few more cups. If she hadn’t been cautious around him, she might have ended up as drunk as Yvette.
She opened the car window slightly, hoping to get rid of the lingering scent of alcohol from her b*dy. However, it wasn’t long before she closed it again.
“What are you doing? Roll down the window, hurry up… open it… open it…” Her hands were slapping against the car window, her voice sounding as if it was coated with cotton candy, playfully reproachful yet soft.
“Stop fooling around and sit properly.”

Eileen curled up, hugging her knees, her face buried in the crook of her arm, and in an instant, she fell silent.
Eric’s
gaze fell on the person next to him. Is she throwing a tantrum?
When did she become so well-behaved? Where did her previously wild, fierce, and indulgent nature go?
“It’s cold outside, and you might catch a cold.” The words were a rare display of tender
concern.
Her muffled voice rang out. “I refuse to believe your empty words about caring for others. You only know how to hurt me. The person I despise the most… is you. Besides Jasper, no one else will ever be kind to me…”
As the words fell, Eileen leaned forward sharply, her eyes dazed and wide. “Why have we stopped?”
“What did you say?” The man’s voice was as cold as ice, a wave of cold air surrounding her. Meeting those dangerous, hawk-like sharp eyes, Eileen instantly felt her mind go blank. Even the strongest sense of drunkenness would quickly fade away.
Only then did Eileen realize how dangerous her recent remarks had been. The car was parked by the roadside, and she was surrounded by danger.
“I… I’m sorry, I’m drunk…” She didn’t know why she was apologizing. Perhaps she was too scared. Before he could make his next move, Eileen quickly said, “It’s late, you… you don’t need to take me home. I can take a taxi by myself.”

However, Jasper was truly different. His kindness toward her had no hidden motives. It was pure affection.
Eileen’s fondness for him was the kind of fondness found between friends without any romantic feelings.
Suddenly, a hand reached out. With a strong force, her back felt as if it was pressed against a wall. His b*dy was burning hot. Eileen was so frightened that she stiffened, not daring to move at all. “What are you doing? Let me go!” Her voice was filled with unmistakable panic.
“Answer me.” His warm breath cascaded down her neck.
Eileen stated awkwardly, “You’ve misunderstood! My feelings for Jasper are just those of ordinary friends, not what you’re imagining.”

After pouring the pasta out of the pot, she placed the plate on the table and grabbed a fork, setting it down. “The food is ready. I’m going to rest now.”
Eileen, holding her warm cup of milk, wearily trudged back to her room after a long day.
Before leaving, she had asked Mary to install a new door lock. Now that it was installed, she immediately locked it from the inside, ensuring that no one from outside could open her room door.
Walking to the walk-in closet, she opened the wardrobe to find her black evening dress hanging there. Eileen took it out and examined it. The fabric was smooth, and there was a familiar scent of laundry detergent. She thought about the basket of dirty clothes Mary was holding this morning. Had she misunderstood something?
However, she distinctly remembered locking the door from the inside. If she didn’t rule out the possibility of Eric entering her room, then perhaps this dress was indeed taken for washing by Mary.
