I spent the Sunday afternoon with Gabriel’s parents and grandparents. They had all visited me once they found out about my kidnapping, but I hadn’t met them since my recovery. We had lunch at Leila and Alister’s house, and I thanked them for keeping everything a secret from my Grandpa. In the evening, Gabriel drove me to my hometown. I had left in a hurry last time according to my Grandpa, who was delighted to have me and Gabriel both over dinner. I wanted to cook but Gabriel was very against it, so we ended up calling take outs from one of the local restaurants.

“I have lived here all my life, Sofie. I want to die here.”

“I am happy you are taken care of.” He looks at Gabriel, who was standing stiffly behind me, a silent spectator to our conversation. “Take care of my little girl, okay?”

“I love you too, Grandpa.” After giving him another hug and trying my best not to shed a tear which is how I feet every time I leave him, I left. Alice and Sam both promised to ch*ck on him every day in person, which was a necessity more than ever now that he was forgetful of his medicines.
