Chapter 787 Reminiscence and Isles
He carefully thought back to all the times he had been with Charlotte. They
had spent time alone, but it seemed they had never actually been on a date.
Seeing Joe’s expression change, Charlotte guessed the answer.
She frowned, “Was our relationship not good before? Or was it a business
marriage?”
“No, it seems we were both too busy to go on a proper date,” Joe said
helplessly.
Charlotte looked thoughtfully out the window and nodded.
Joe took Charlotte to an island.
He led her familiarly to a seaside villa and took her inside.
“What is this place?” Charlotte looked at Joe in confusion.
Joe smiled faintly, “This is your island.”
“My island?” Charlotte’s eyes widened in shock. Did she actually own an
island?
Joe remained silent, although Love Island had better scenery, the place left a
deep psychological scar on him, so he didn’t want to go there before
Charlotte fully recovered.
As a compromise, he brought Charlotte to the island she owned.
He gave some instructions to Terry, the housekeeper, and then took Charlotte
upstairs, “You rest here for a bit. I’ll take you out to sea later.”
Seeing his mysterious manner, Charlotte simply nodded.
Just as Joe was about to leave, Charlotte suddenly called out to him, “What if
Ben and Anna find out we’ve left so hastily?”
Ben and Anna had been clinging to her lately, and would probably be
heartbroken if they suddenly found her missing.
“Don’t worry, Sir Smith will take care of them,” Joe smiled. Upon reflection,
they had left Ben and Anna alone several times before, so they should be
used to it by now.
Seeing that Joe wasn’t worried at all, Charlotte also felt relieved.
After Joe left, Charlotte toured the villa and found that the decorations and
furnishings were very much to her liking, making her feel very comfortable.
At this point, Terry came over and looked at Charlotte with a warm smile, “The
decoration and furnishings of this place were all meticulously arranged by Mr.
Smith. All the blueprints and staff had been reviewed by Mr. Smith himself.
We were all curious about who would receive such special treatment from
him. Seeing you today, I think you two are a perfect match.”
Terry’s words made Charlotte feel a rare sense of shyness. If nothing had
gone wrong at their wedding, she and Joe would be very happy right now,
wouldn’t they?
Joe was gone for the whole afternoon, and Charlotte eventually fell asleep
while waiting for him.
It wasn’t until the sky began to darken that Charlotte woke up.
Groggily, she saw a figure sitting beside her bed. She was about to scream
for help but realized that the person was Joe.
“Why are you sitting here?” Charlotte asked curiously.
“I saw you sleeping so soundly, I thought I’d let you get some good rest. It’s
not often that you can let go and relax,” Joe said with a smile to Charlotte.
Charlotte paused and realized that the nap she had just taken was the most
comfortable one she had in a while.
“I’ve had enough rest, you…” Charlotte hesitated, looking at Joe.
