With that realization, all doubts disappeared from Gideon’s eyes.
“It’s not like that.”
Lena and Charlotte had already moved on to other topics when they suddenly
heard Gideon say this and were a bit bewildered.
Both looked at him strangely.
“I want to marry her because I like her. I love her, and I want to spend the rest
of my life with her. It’s not because of the child,” Gideon looked firmly at Lena,
his resolute gaze leaving her stunned.
What shocked her even more was when Gideon pulled out an engagement
ring he had prepared and knelt on one knee in front of Lena.
He looked at Lena solemnly, “Maybe my words aren’t enough to move you,
but…”
“I’ll prove it to you.”
As Gideon spoke, Charlotte was secretly observing Lena’s expression.
Although she didn’t nod in agreement, Charlotte saw the tears in her eyes. If
Gideon wasn’t lying, it was only a matter of time before she agreed.
“I don’t need you guys to accompany me for now,” Charlotte said, not wanting
to disrupt their lives because of her, “The specific treatment will have to wait
until after a consultation with a psychologist.”
“Don’t worry, if we really need to stimulate her with architectural matters, I’ll
take her to Albania to see Mr. Rumba,” Joe suggested.
Lena and Gideon brightened up, both saying in unison, “That’s a good idea.”
Mr. Rumba had always been concerned about Charlotte’s condition, and
before they came, he had specifically asked Lena and Gideon to inform him
of the latest updates, saying he wanted to see Charlotte.
After Lena and Gideon left, Joe told Charlotte, “We’ll move in after dealing
with Smollett.”
Charlotte also loved this place she had designed herself and agreed without
hesitation.
Back at the villa, Ben and Anna immediately surrounded her.
Both kids eagerly told Charlotte what had happened at school that day, with
Ben even affectionately holding Charlotte’s hand.
Perhaps because he was worried that Charlotte, who had lost her memory,
did not like him to be silent, Ben had been very lively these days and talked
more in front of Charlotte.

As Charlotte was chatting with Ben and Anna, Erik wheeled himself over to
Joe.
“I’ve investigated Smollett’s whereabouts during this period and found that he
was indeed abroad when Miss Clinton disappeared,” Erik took out a laptop
and showed Joe the generated route map.
“According to the clues I found from the satellite, during the time he was
abroad, he went to a remote area in Halcyonland,” Erik displayed several
photos, which were of Smollett going in and out of a villa.
“What’s more coincidental is that your mother and her husband have also
appeared in this villa,” Erik showed him another photo.
Maybe the person behind all this had hidden all the clues very well, but
Smollett’s appearance was like a thread, allowing them to dig deeper.
Joe stared at the photo for a long time before asking, “Do you suspect that
Charlotte was held captive in this villa back then?”
Erik nodded.
