Vincent also knew that Smollett didn’t really want to leave. Seeing this, he
hurriedly smoothed things over, “Mr. Smith is just overly concerned about
Mrs. Smith. Why don’t we go outside and take a break?”
“Whether it’s me treating her or not, psychological counseling rarely involves
a third party,” Smollett also softened his tone, looking seriously at Joe, “I think
even Mrs. Smith has some secrets she doesn’t want you to know, right?”
As soon as these words came out, Joe hesitated for a moment and looked at
Charlotte.
As Smollett had said, Charlotte did need a private space, and he couldn’t
always stay here.
Charlotte nodded at Joe, “Don’t worry; I’ll be fine.”
She had long been prepared for the worst and was actually fearless.
Seeing this, Joe could only temporarily retreat with Vincent.
The room was left with only Charlotte and Smollett.
Smollett didn’t rush to start the treatment, but slowly sat back down in his
chair, his eyes fixed on Charlotte.
It wasn’t until Charlotte noticed his gaze, and realized something was wrong,
that he spoke in a deep voice, “How much memory do you have left from the
time you went missing?”
Charlotte shook her head slightly, “A complete blank.”
In fact, she had completely forgotten even her previous memories and didn’t
care whether it was from the time she was missing or not.
Smollett raised an eyebrow slightly and wrote down her words in his
notebook.
“I saw Vincent’s test results. Your physical condition is fine; the biggest
problem is in your mind,” Smollett subconsciously touched his palm, and only
then realized he was wearing gloves at the moment.
He looked at Charlotte meaningfully, “I think…”
Smollett stared intently at Charlotte, suddenly reaching out toward her.
Charlotte shrank back in alarm, bumping into a coffee cup on the corner table.
The warm tea was all spilled on Smollett. He exclaimed and instinctively
pulled off the gloves and coat he was wearing.
Then he noticed his own actions and immediately turned his head to look at
Charlotte.
At that moment, Charlotte’s gaze was focused on Smollett’s palm.
There was a deep wound on his palm, which looked like it hadn’t healed long
ago, and the newly formed scar was still pink.
Smollett discreetly hid his palm, unsure whether Charlotte did it intentionally
or not.
“Your wound looks pretty deep?” Charlotte asked, her eyebrows slightly
furrowed.
For some reason, she was always bothered by the wound, and her gaze
would occasionally fall on it.
After carefully confirming that she had not deliberately knocked over the tea,
Smollett lightly explained, “I was treating a patient, and she got too emotional
and accidentally hurt me.”
Charlotte’s gaze occasionally swept over the wound and suddenly asked,
“Must have hurt, right?”
Smollett looked at her with some surprise, and then smiled, “Of course not,
it’s a kind of memento.”
Despite it being a simple sentence, Charlotte suddenly felt a sense of
unease.
Due to the accident, their counseling session had to be cut short.
Before leaving, Smollett prescribed some medication for Charlotte and told
her to take it on time.
After hesitating for a moment, Charlotte threw the medication into the trash
can, leaving only the fabric of the packaging.
