Charlotte was surprised to find that Ben was much more cheerful than before,

The old man hesitated.

adjacent private room. Charlotte furrowed her brow, thinking it was the couple
next door causing trouble again.
Before she could instruct the waiter by her side to check, William entered with a
grim expression.
“What’s going on?” Charlotte asked as she noticed his troubled look.
William shook his head, his gaze fixed on the two children.
Charlotte immediately understood, realizing that something significant had

Originally, Charlotte had planned to wait until the auction formalities were
completely settled before inquiring about William. However, she didn’t expect
that two police officers would arrive before that.
“Are you Miss Clinton?” one of the male police officers politely asked Charlotte.
Charlotte nodded, puzzled. The two police officers exchanged a glance and then
asked softly, “We have some matters we’d like to discuss with you. Would it be
convenient for you right now?”
Charlotte hesitated for a moment but eventually nodded. “No problem.”
The two police officers led Charlotte to a nearby meeting room. As they pa*sed
by the adjacent private room, Charlotte was shocked to see that the entrance
had been cordoned off with police tape. Several police officers and forensic
experts were coming in and out, examining the scene.
