I looked back at her and responded, “Grandma.”
She seemed to age significantly in an instant, her voice growing increasingly frail as she looked at me and said, “Go ch*ck on them, don’t let the brothers fight, go quickly.”

At the staircase, by the time I arrived, the two brothers were already fighting. To be precise, it was a one-sided fight. “Stop it.” I spoke up, pulling Walter away. William was released, sliding down the wall to sit on the floor, like a pile of sludge.
Pulling Walter aside, I knew he was angry, and said, “Grandma doesn’t want you guys to fight.”
Walter withdrew his gaze from William, took off his coat, and emotionlessly tossed it onto William’s bare upper b*dy.
Afterwards, he left without saying a word.
I looked at William squatting on the ground, an indescribable feeling in my heart. In the end, I said nothing and turned to leave.
The thing that shouldn’t have happened, eventually did happen.

Emma’s child was three months old, already formed. The people in the hospital didn’t dispose of it directly, but sent it out instead.
