Chapter 276 One Left and Another Came
I really wanted to nod, but in the end, my heart was too kind. I didn’t want to hurt his young soul, so I had to say, “I’m fine now, Cory might come over later.”

Knowing he was busy, I nodded and said, “You go ahead, I’m fine here.” Fearing he might actually cancel his meeting to stay here, I added, “I’ll go to the old house to see grandma tonight.”
Hearing me say this, he paused slightly, then nodded, “Alright!”
I breathed a sigh of relief only after I watched the two people leave, one after the other.
Finally, the large Buddha statue was sent away.
However, I celebrated too soon, because not long after Walter left, another big shot arrived.

Watching him push the door open himself, I was slow for a few seconds, my gaze falling on his leg. I couldn’t help but blurt out, “Is your injury healed?”
Wasn’t he in a wheelchair just yesterday? How is he walking on his own today?
Had the doctor’s medical skills already improved to this extent?
Seeing me staring at his leg, he probably guessed what I was thinking. His dark eyes lifted, and he smiled, saying, “Just a minor injury, it’s nothing. How about you?”

I nodded, casually responding, “Much better.”
While talking to him, I naturally noticed the cake he was holding in his hand. He sat down next to me, handed me the cake, and said, “Sebastian said that girls all like sweets. This was made by our chef at home. Try it and see if it suits your taste.”
After speaking, he had already opened the cake box. Inside was a strawberry mille-feuille cake, emitting a faint scent of milk and strawberries, which easily aroused one’s appetite.
I felt a bit embarra*sed because I had just eaten the breakfast that Walter brought. Probably due to the hunger I experienced at the police station, I was reluctant to waste food, so I ate all the food that Walter brought. I felt a bit full now.
The cake in front of me was really tempting, and moreover, Daniel had already handed the spoon to me.
Unable to refuse his kindness, I could only smile at him and say, “It smells delicious, let me have a taste.”
I took the spoon and scooped a mouthful into my mouth. The rich aroma of milk and strawberries instantly filled my taste buds. It was so delicious that I couldn’t help but look at Daniel and laugh, “Your family’s chef is amazing, the cake is so delicious.”
Daniel’s laugh, a rare one that spilled from his eyes, looked at me and said, “If you like it, I’ll have him make it for you often in the future.”
“No need, no need.” I took a few bites and said with a smile, “I can’t bother you often, and besides, eating too many sweets can easily lead to weight gain.”
“Not fat.” His voice was overly gentle, and I subconsciously turned my head to look at him, unexpectedly meeting his gaze.
Our eyes met, and I was taken aback. It wasn’t that I hadn’t made eye contact with a man before, it was just that Daniel’s eyes were so full of emotion that it was a bit hard to handle.
