Chapter 16 Secretary and Wife
Inside the plane’s first–class cabin.
Levi took the two rings that he said he would throw them away.
He hesitated for a moment, took the thicker one, and put it on his finger. He had never put it on before. Unexpectedly, the size was just right, as if it had been measured.
But he had been refusing to wear the wedding ring for three years with the excuse of work.
Among other couples, the wives would get angry.
But Gianna had never complained about it. She was gentle and sensible, forgiving him in every aspect.
But three years later, he didn’t expect that she would leave decisively after the divorce without taking the wedding ring.
Levi frowned and turned the ring silently. “Gentle and obedient, wanton and decisive. Gianna, which one is your real side?”
The plane landed in Dubai.
Levi went to the top floor of Myers Group’s building and entered the president’s office. Maverick squinted his beautiful eyes to confirm the information on the computer. Then, he picked up the project document and proved it again. After that, he put down the document and said solemnly, “Dude, I checked it. The Rivera Group is indeed eligible for participation.” Levi raised his thick eyebrows.
As he expected, the Empyrean Group blocked the Rivera Group from participating in the exhibition.
Maverick asked, “Did you offend Chaim, the president of Empyrean Group According to the records above, he exercised his right to veto the Rivera Group’s participation in the meeting.” Levi’s eyes were gloomy. Maverick couldn’t see what he was thinking.
“I haven’t seen him. My secretary has handled this exhibition. The previous report shows that the situation is good, and the last step is to sign the contract.”
“Then where did your secretary go? Let her deal with it.” Maverick turned the pen with a cynical expression.
Levi closed his eyes unconsciously, restraining his disappointment. “She resigned.”
Maverick thought he knew the reason. “It must be your secretary who played tricks secretly. After resigning, she took away all the resources and made you lose this big deal.
“She must have signed a non–compete agreement when she joined the company. You can sue her immediately.”
He expressed his guess and asked Levi to sue the secretary.
Levi’s face was livid.
Jason sensed the cold aura on Levi’s body. He smiled awkwardly and interjected at the right time, “Mr. Maverick Myers, the secretary is Mr. Rivera’s wife.”
Maverick covered his mouth, and his eyes were full of surprise. “Awesome! You married a superwoman! She is your secretary and your wife.”
Levi didn’t bother to argue with Maverick. His friend usually had a poor sense of decency when speaking. He had already been used to it.
But what Maverick said was right.
Gianna was excellent, like a robot.
His heart skipped a beat.
He realized that he seemed to have been using the standard of a perfect secretary to demand Gianna, forgetting that she was his wife.
Maverick stood up and patted Levi on the shoulder with a teasing smile. “When did you get married? I didn’t know it, and you didn’t tell me about it either.”
The two were good friends but rarely met because of the family business.
Levi and Gianna married in secret. They didn’t hold a wedding.
Only Victor and a few friends in the country know that Levi was married. They all looked down upon Gianna, who had an ordinary family background. They thought this marriage was a great loss for Levi, so they never mentioned that Levi was married. The outsiders all thought he was single.
“Mr. Rivera got divorced some time ago.”
Jason talked subconsciously. It was too late to react when he realized what he had said.
He sensed Levi’s sharp gaze on him. He quickly lowered his head, scolding himself in his heart for being so sloppy.
Maverick swallowed the joke he was about to say.
“It’s okay. Marriage is the tomb of love. Divorce is the right choice for you.”
He sighed as if thinking of his own business.
“Why are you sighing?” Levi asked lightly.
Levi was his good friend. It was natural to share his trouble. Maverick sighed, “I don’t want to get married!
“My dad has been forcing me to marry that ugly, acne–prone fourth daughter of the Empyrean Group. That woman was abroad before, and I have an excuse to refuse. But I heard that she has returned from abroad recently. My dad started forcing me again!
“He even determined the wedding date and let me go home to get married to the ugly woman.
“My hair is going to be gray!”
