Chapter 82 Compensation
The crowd’s opinion of Simon changed in an instant. They had initially thought of him as an upright person, but now it seemed his character fell far short of noble.
“Oh my, he cheated and got caught, and now he’s backing out. If we hadn’t noticed, Ms. Lewis would have been unjustly accused.”
“Forcing the original wife to admit she’s the mistress is really unethical.”
“We’re entertainment journalists, but we’re not here to write falsehoods. Mr. Turner seems to be quite confused!”
“All his bluster and arrogance won’t change the fact that he’s just hot air!”
Simon was furious, with veins bulging on his temples, and the surrounding comments grew harsher.
“Here!”
He forcefully pulled off the thumb ring, initially about to slam it onto the table, but then hesitated, gently placing it in Gianna’s hand.
His tone carried a threat. “You better keep it safe. I’ll come for it in a few days.”
“We’ll see when the time comes.”
Gianna replied casually, then glanced at Kelly, indicating that it was time to leave.
“Ms. Lewis, please wait a moment. I’ll find a secure box for your ring,” a server chimed in, highly impressed with this gambling goddess.
“No need. Do you have a plastic bag? Just put it in there,” Gianna said nonchalantly, “Why be so careful with something you can just toss around?”
This statement startled everyone.
It was an invaluable national treasure, something Simon treasured like his life, and she wanted it placed in a plastic bag!
Simon winced, but the item was already out of his hands. He vented his frustration on a nearby chair and stormed off, his face contorted.
“Mr. Turner, don’t forget about Naomi kneeling and apologizing!” Gianna reminded him as he left. “Hmph!”
Simon quickened his pace.
Kelly laughed heartily. “It’s a real shame Naomi didn’t show up. If she had been here, she’d have kneeled right away, all in one go, and I could have filmed it.”
Gianna chuckled, “There’s no rush. We have plenty of time.”
“Why are you so good at gambling?” Kelly asked, genuinely curious for once.
“It’s all because back in the day, Thiago and I sneaked out to the casinos and spent months there. We were exposed to it day in and day out. How could I not pick up some real skills?
“Thiago’s cheating skills are even more impressive than mine. I’ll have him show you sometime.” Kelly nodded, professionally envisioning the trending headline. “Superstar Revealed as Hidden Gambling King?”
She was sure it would top the charts.
But she wouldn’t leak anything about the Lewis family’s affairs easily.
The two chatted as they stepped outside.
Levi stood next to the car, his tall and imposing figure perfectly showcased by the custom–tailored suit. His handsome face exuded an air of exclusivity.
Kelly thought to herself, “In terms of looks alone, Levi is enough to drive Silver City women crazy. However, looks are just one aspect.
Living with someone like him could drive me to insanity, if not to my death.
He isn’t the ideal partner.”
Gianna, on the other hand, acted as if she hadn’t noticed Levi at all, her gaze scanning the area for
her car.
Levi, upon seeing Gianna in her outfit, was captivated by her appearance. He couldn’t recall seeing her wear this color before, and it made her look like a dark elf, ethereal and enchanting.
The dim light at the entrance cast a soft glow on her smooth shoulders, making her even more
radiant.
She was standing there, talking and laughing with someone, every expression of hers stirring his attention.
“Where’s the thumb ring?” Levi approached and asked her.
Gianna glanced at Levi, a hint of mockery in her eyebrows. “You’re quite obedient, coming over here to ask for the ring so soon.”
“You don’t need it.” Levi’s cold gaze remained fixed on Gianna. “I’m willing to buy it at market value. Can I write you a check?”
He didn’t want to get involved, but Simon had once again brought up the matter of Alex to pressure him.
He had no choice but to come.
“He sent you to ask, but why should I definitely give it to you?”
Gianna’s elegant and slender neck lifted higher, exuding an even more icy and noble air.
“Earning a billion without investing, this is not a losing deal. Consider it compensation for our time together in our marriage.”
“Have you lost your mind?” Gianna shot him a disgusted look. “I won it fair and square. Even if you want to buy it with money, it’s only fair. What’s with this talk of compensation? Disgusting.”
Levi was speechless. He hadn’t thought through the words he blurted out.
Even though they had long parted ways, he always found it hard to refrain from bringing up their marriage in front of Gianna.
He felt… incredibly embarra*sed.
