Chapter 447 So Naive About Shawn
Gianna found herself transfixed, gazing at her phone without a clue about how to react.
“Madam, your coffee is ready. Best enjoyed hot.”
The maid’s voice punctuated Gianna’s daydreams. Gianna collected herself. “Set it down here, please.”
“As you wish, Madam.”
Just as the maid, Ada, was turning to leave, Gianna stopped her.
“Ada, if someone goes missing all of a sudden, do you think something bad might have happened?”
Reading the concern in Gianna’s furrowed brows, Ada, who had been through her fair share of life, immediately caught on.
“Madam, are you referring to Mr. Fallon?”
Gianna’s cheeks burned at the incisive question. “Ada, how…”
Grinning, Ada clarified. “Madam, you’ve been murmuring Mr. Fallon’s name for days. Hard to overlook.”
Flushed even redder, Gianna exclaimed, “Ada, what are you implying!”
Unperturbed, Ada comforted her. “Worry not, Madam. Mr. Fallon could simply be tied up with other matters. The moment he’s free, he’ll reach out to you.”
“Do you think so?”
Doubt tinged Gianna’s voice, as she herself was unaware of how deeply she had been preoccupied. with thoughts of Shawn.
“Absolutely, Madam. Overthinking won’t help. Your driver will soon arrive to take you to the office.”
Gianna nodded, a sigh of relief escaping her l*ps.
“Thank you, Ada. That puts my mind at ease.”
Once Ada exited the room, Gianna sat up, navigating through her phone’s contact list.
Scanning for anyone who could shed light on Shawn’s whereabouts, she found no one.
Had she been so naive about Shawn all this while?
That morning, Gianna’s mind was elsewhere.
Repeatedly, Erwin probed. “Ms. Lewis, what are your thoughts on this project? How should we move forward?”
Startled back to reality, she inquired, “I’m sorry, could you repeat that?”
Adjusting his eyegla*ses, Erwin handed her a folder. “Ms. Lewis, you don’t seem like yourself today.”
Shuffling through the papers, Gianna masked her emotional turbulence. “I’m perfectly fine…” Seeing through her, Erwin asked cautiously, “Is everything alright, Ms. Lewis?”
“No concerns here. Carry on with the project,” Gianna declared, signing her name briskly on the dotted line.
Erwin nodded. “Very well, Ms. Lewis.”
11:25
After he left, Gianna paced toward the floor-to-ceiling window, inhaling deeply to recompose herself. As she did, her office door swung open once more.
“What now, Erwin?”
Smirking, Thiago corrected her. “It’s not Erwin. It’s me.”
Pleasantly surprised, Gianna turned. “Thiago! What brings you here?”
With a sly grin, Thiago teased, “I’ve got a surprise for you.”
Intrigued, Gianna eagerly asked, “Do tell!”
With a theatrical clap, Thiago beckoned. “Come in!”
Gianna raised her eyes and looked at the door. Following his cue, a lively young woman sauntered in, energetically greeting Gianna..
“Hey, I’m Sarah Williams!”
Confused, Gianna sought clarification from Thiago. “What’s going on?”
Effortlessly, Thiago elucidated. “Well, Empyrean Group just launched a talent division, and we’re scouting new blood. Sarah’s my junior in the industry, and she is a rising star who recently gained traction from a web series. Perfect timing too, as her contract with her prior agency just expired.”
