Chapter 421 The Underdog Took Center Stage
“Face the enemy head-on and adapt to any challenge.”
With these simple words, Gianna had already formed a strategy in her mind, prepared to face whatever Susan had in store.
At nine A.M.
Gianna walked into the building of Empyrean Group, her high heels clicking against the floor. Dressed in her professional attire, she looked exceptionally competent.
As she made her entrance, Erwin, who had been waiting for a while, quickly approached her. “Ms. Lewis, welcome back.”
Gianna nodded slightly and proceeded towards the elevator. Erwin followed closely, briefing her on her schedule for the day.
“At ten A.M., you have a video conference.
“At eleven A.M., you’re meeting Mr. Hill from Hill Group, in the conference room on the 22nd floor.
As the elevator softly ascended, stopping at the top floor, Gianna listened to Erwin’s rundown and acknowledged quietly, “Understood,” before exiting the elevator.
Surprisingly, Warren, wearing a smile, came forward to greet her. “Ms. Lewis, it’s been a while! I was getting worried, you’ve been out of sight for a week.”
Gianna paused and responded calmly, “I appreciate your concern, Mr. Denley. I was merely attending to some personal matters.”
With a nod, Warren gave the impression of full understanding. “Ah, I see. So, you’ve sorted everything out? If you need a*sistance, don’t hesitate to ask.”
Warren expertly a*sumed the role of a concerned elder, feigning genuine interest in Gianna’s well-being.
“By the
way, Ms. Lewis, I’m not sure if Erwin told you, but there’s been a hiccup with the Dawn City project. A mine collapsed. No casualties, but it will impact our profits.”
Warren put on a sad face.
Upon hearing this, Gianna’s expression turned serious. She looked at Erwin and asked, “Is this true, Erwin?”
This was a complex situation.
In Warren’s presence, Erwin offered little clarification, stating, “I’ll brief you in detail later, Ms. Lewis.”
Warren chuckled, “Poor Erwin, he’s been busy. Probably forgot to update you. But you can hear it
now.
“But you see, Gianna, it’s been six months since our bet, and there’s been no improvement or progress. Now, with the issues in the Dawn City project, things don’t look good for you.”
Warren radiated smug satisfaction, seemingly enjoying what appeared to be Gianna’s imminent
downfall.
“Ms. Lewis, you’re still too young, too green.

“Business isn’t as simple as you think. Why not step back and return to your sheltered life, rather than battling it out in this ruthless corporate world?”
Unfazed, Gianna retorted, “Mr. Denley, why the rush? The time for judgment hasn’t arrived yet.” Caught off guard, Warren mustered a feeble smile. “Ah, you misunderstand, Ms. Lewis. I’m not. impatient, I’m merely considering what’s best for you.
“In the end, you’re too inexperienced. If you lose, it will be humiliating. Let’s not make this any uglier than it has to be, shall we?”
