Chapter 390 A Dilemma
“Bruse, you’ve got a lead on the car accident investigation…” the voice on the other end said.
A smile graced Bruse’s face, accentuating his good looks. “Did you locate the police officer who handled the case?”
“We found him. He’s at the police station. Do you want to come?”
Bruse glanced at Gianna and Shawn but wasted no time in accepting, “Alright, we’ll head there immediately.”
Once the call ended, Bruse turned to Gianna and said, “No matter what we discover, let’s find out the truth.”
Gianna felt a surge of anxiety she couldn’t explain.
It took her until they arrived at the police station to calm down.

Shawn noticed her anxiety and offered comforting words. “No matter the truth, we’ll face it together.”
Gianna nodded and said, “Thank you, Shawn.”
Bruse, sitting in the front, watched them and couldn’t help but smile. He’d never seen Shawn be so gentle with anyone.
It seemed that Gianna had quite a charm about her.
“Shawn, do you think this will lead us to yet another mystery?”
Gianna was clearly uneasy.
Shawn rea*sured her, “It’s unlikely. The truth is often concealed beneath the surface, and what we see now might be an illusion.”
Just as they were discussing, the police station’s entrance swung open.
The Police Chief Carl rushed in. Upon spotting Bruse, he greeted him with great respect, “Mr. Todd, what brings you here?”
Bruse’s reputation as the son of a local official was so substantial that even the mayor treated him with respect, fearing to offend him.
Bruse politely acknowledged Carl and proceeded to introduce him to Shawn and Gianna, stating, “Boss, Gianna, this is Mr. Carl Iven, the Police Chief!”
Carl was no fool.
Even someone like Bruse, addressed as “Boss,” couldn’t be trifled with. His attitude became e more respectful. “Mr. Todd’s friends are all esteemed guests. What should I call you?”
“Shawn Fallon.”

The simple reply made Carl raise an eyebrow. The name seemed unfamiliar in Colobiye. However, considering the respect Bruse was given, it seemed to have a significant influence. “Mr. Fallon, please come inside. If you have any matters, feel free to let me know,” Carl replied. Bruse didn’t beat around the bush and said directly, “Mr. Iven, we’re here to investigate an accident case. I believe you’re already aware of it. Would you mind taking us to see the case file?” Carl hesitated for a moment.
Ordinary individuals did not have the authorization to access the archives and review case files.
Even their own colleagues would need to obtain the necessary approvals and follow proper procedures.
“Mr. Todd, I’m afraid you can’t view these archives without proper permission. However, the officer who handled the case is available for questioning. Would you like to speak with him first?” Bruse raised an eyebrow, his tone carrying a hint of pressure. “Mr. Iven, what exactly do you mean. by that?”
Carl provided an official explanation, “Without the necessary orders from higher-ranking officials, we cannot grant access to these files. Unless…”
Upon hearing this, Bruse immediately grasped the situation. “You mean, we need to go through the proper channels?”
Carl nodded. “Please don’t put us in a difficult position.”
Bruse was getting frustrated.
Normally, he could easily arrange the necessary procedures, but he had recently offended his father, and they were currently in a standoff.
He didn’t want to back down now, though, because he needed to deliver for Shawn and Gianna.
But if he did relent…
He couldn’t help but feel resentful.
