Chapter 361 Facing the Danger Head-on
Upon hearing this, Jax’s chess partner became quite intrigued. “Jax, when did you get a boss?” Jax responded with a mysterious smile, “That’s cla*sified.”
However, one of his subordinates was too impatient to let it go. He urgently interrupted Jax, saying, “Jax, something might be wrong with the boss.”
Jax’s expression instantly changed upon hearing this. “What are you saying? What happened to the boss?”
“Our people just checked out Shallow Blue Bay. They discovered that the island has blocked all external signals, and the current owner of Shallow Blue Bay is a human trafficker.”
“What did you say!”
Jax stood up abruptly. “Quick, hand me my phone.”
With that, Jax dialed Gianna’s number on his phone.
On the other side, Gianna had just finished her work at the office and was heading downstairs. As she stepped out of the elevator, she had an inexplicable feeling that a figure had pa*sed by in the parking lot.
Gianna immediately became more alert.
She took a couple of steps forward and, in the next moment, saw a familiar Rolls-Royce Phantom. with its hazard lights on.
Shortly after, Shawn opened the car door and stepped out.
“Gianna.”
Gianna let out a sigh of relief and waved at Shawn. “Shawn, how did you come here?” Shawn walked up to her and, seeing her looking fatigued, instinctively took her hand.
Just then, a cell phone rang. “Shawn, I need to take this call.”
Gianna’s eyes darkened slightly as she listened to the conversation on the other end of the line.
After ending the call, Shawn sensed that something was amiss with her emotions. Concerned, he asked, “What’s wrong? Did something happen?”
Gianna pretended to be casual. “It’s nothing, Shawn, don’t worry.”
However, Shawn remained serious. “Gianna, if something’s bothering you, you can tell me.
There’s no need to keep secrets between us.”
Gianna raised her gaze and locked eyes with Shawn, her voice low as she spoke, “Shawn, let’s have this conversation in the car.”
Shawn led her to the car, and they both climbed inside.
Once they were seated, Gianna recounted all the events that had unfolded in Flenning. Listening intently, Shawn furrowed his brow and concluded, “It appears that they’re targeting you.”
A faint smile curled at the corners of Gianna’s l*ps, but her eyes radiated a resolute determination. “This Tony has inflicted too much harm and chaos. He managed to escape last time, but this time, I’m determined to ensure he faces the consequences.”
Shawn tightened his grip on her hand. “Gianna, let me handle this.”
Gianna was initially about to object, but she changed her mind before the words left her l*ps and smiled instead. “Shawn, how about we outsmart them with our wits?”
“Are you suggesting we go to the island?”
Determination shimmered in Gianna’s eyes as she had already devised a plan in her mind. She spoke deliberately, “Sometimes, you have to face the danger head-on.”
Shawn didn’t oppose her decision.
He was fully committed to supporting her in whatever choice she made and ensuring her safety.
The next day,
Gianna canceled all her work and brought only Erwin with her for the trip to the island. “Ms. Lewis, are we going with just the two of us?”
Gianna nodded. “Two people will be enough.”
Although Erwin was suspicious, he didn’t question further. “Ms. Lewis, everything is arranged.
The representative from the other company will meet us at the island’s dock.”
“Okay, I got it.”
The driver took them to the dock, and Erwin went to pick up the tickets. He returned with the tickets in no time.
