Chapter 13 He Has Feelings for Her
It was the second time they had been so close, and Stanley became certain that Coleen could arouse his desire. However, her nervous look at the moment infuriated him. “What? Do you think I’m a lecherous demon?” Stanley demanded, looking hurt. His expression made Coleen feel guilty, and she replied, “Sorry, Mr. Stanley. I might have overreacted. I admit that I’m somewhat afraid of you. It’s because I have a bad reputation. I don’t want any relationship beyond our employment to complicate things. I don’t want to drag you down with me.” Stanley gazed at Coleen. Despite everything that she had been put through, she pretended to be strong. He suddenly felt… He slid away from her. Coleen took a deep breath and sat up, calming her racing heart. Stanley spoke coldly, “Whether I will be dragged down is my concern, not yours. If I’m committed to protecting a girl, nob*dy in Serendale will have the balls to lay a finger on her. You can rest a*sured.” Coleen turned to look at him, wondering why he was so kind to her. It would make her feel like she owed him a lot, not to mention that she was already grateful to him for helping her twice. “Mr. Stanley, weren’t we going to talk about Mr. Xander?” “I gave Xander your calligraphy. Aline said he’d copied it in his room quietly the whole night.” “Really?” Coleen exclaimed in excitement. Stanley raised an eyebrow at her enthusiastic reaction. He wondered whether her excitement was genuine. She barely knew Xander, so she didn’t seem to have a reason to be that thrilled, did she? “Xander asked me if you were scared yesterday. He wondered if you would continue to teach him.” “Of course, I will.” Coleen nodded vigorously. “But you worked late tonight. He was disappointed. I understand that the busy hours at the club are in the evenings. So, I wonder if you can go to Xander’s school in the mornings to tutor him in his cla*sroom from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.?” “Wouldn’t that disrupt his school schedule?” Stanley stood up, his expression calm. “That won’t be a problem. I’ll have Aline take you there tomorrow morning, and you can go to the club in the afternoon.” “Okay.” Coleen nodded and stood up. “It’s quite late now. I should leave you to rest. Goodnight, Mr. Stanley.” Coleen bowed and turned to leave, but Stanley suddenly grabbed her wrist. Caught off guard, Coleen lost her balance and fell toward the couch. Luckily, Stanley held her around her waist to stop her from falling. Nervous, Coleen tried to push him away, but Stanley wouldn’t let go. Coleen struggled to stay calm and asked, “Mr. Stanley, is there anything else?” “Do you need my help dealing with Chad Lynch?” Coleen was surprised that Stanley knew about what had happened between her and Chad tonight. But soon, she figured it out. Leslie probably had reported it to him. Faced with her skeptical expression, Stanley smiled proudly, “You guessed right. I handpicked the club’s staff, so they will always report to me when there’s something to report.” “Mr. Stanley, it’s not what you think,” Coleen explained. “Chad and I are friends, and we were just joking earlier. He didn’t hurt me, nor would he. So, there’s nothing to deal with.”
