Chapter 201 Pretentious
Elijah stood before the rustic wooden gate and said, “I’ll come to pick you up when you get off work.”
“Okay.”
Cordelia replied with a faint smile. Then, she turned around and left.
Elijah watched her leave and couldn’t help but smile.
After returning to the courtyard, Elijah took out his phone instead of having breakfast immediately. Ignoring the numerous missed calls and messages from people desperately trying to find him, he called his a*sistant.
“Mr. Hansen, where are you right now? Everyone in the company is looking for you.”
“I’ll be back tomorrow,” Elijah said calmly, “Get in touch with an alternative medicine professor who can help me get started. I’ll pay generously for private lessons.”
The a*sistant went speechless.
As a result, rumors of Elijah falling ill gradually spread within the Hansen Group.
In the evening, the sky turned overcast.
Cordelia occasionally glanced out of the window, seemingly concerned about the possibility of rain.
Eason sat besides her, examining a prescription, but he also noticed her uncase.
At this moment, Wren came over with an umbrella. “Evie, I’m leaving. You should go as well before the handsome guy waiting for you outside gets soaked in the rain. I saw him waiting for over an hour.”
Cordelia was taken aback and then quickly stood up.
When she reached the entrance of the pharmacy, she realized that the raindrops had already begun to fall, and Elijah was standing across the street from the pharmacy without taking
cover.
“Elijah, are you being foolish?” Cordelia pressed her l*ps and asked.
Elijah smiled faintly.
Yes, he was being foolish.
But he was willingly being foolish for Cordelia.
Cordelia sighed and went back inside to grab an umbrella. She said to Eason, “Eason, I’m leaving. Drive carefully on your way back.”
Eason didn’t respond and simply watched her hurried departure with a heavy heart.
Feeling a bit annoyed, he left the pharmacy, got into his car, and called Adam.
Upon learning that Cordelia had left Eason to find Elijah, Adam was frustrated.
“Eason, we can’t just watch Cordelia jump into the fire pit again! Elijah is unreliable.”
Eason looked out of the window with a gloomy expression. “If Elijah truly cares for Cordelia, I’m willing to support them.”
“Eason, you’re Cordelia’s lifesaver. Even if she wants to marry you, I won’t be surprised…”
“I saved her because I wanted her to have a good life. If Elijah dares to mistreat or bully her, then we’ll settle old scores and new ones. I won’t let him off.” Eason’s determination was
unwavering.
“Alright, Eason, you’re just too kind.”
It was often difficult for the kind ones to get what they wanted. Adam wished that Eason could be a bit more domineering and selfish sometimes.
Cordelia and Elijah walked along the road together under the
umbrella.
Cordelia chided him, “You know when I’ll get off work. Why did you come so early?”
Elijah smiled gently. “I missed you, so I wanted to see you.”
Cordelia glanced down, and her eyes sparkled.
It seemed that Elijah’s audacity was growing by the day. He could even say such ambiguous words without hesitation.
“Next time you come to the pharmacy, don’t wait outside like a dummy,” Cordelia said seriously.
Suddenly, Elijah stopped in his tracks and faced Cordelia earnestly, “I know you have important matters to discuss with Eason. He’s never been fond of me, and it’s not appropriate for me to be there.”
Cordelia blinked and suddenly burst into laughter.
And somehow, her laughter made Elijah uneasy.
Cordelia stood on her tiptoes, leaning in closer to his ear. Her voice was soft and tender, like the gentle paw of a kitten, scratching his heart while making it itchy.
“Good lord, Elijah. You’re such a pretentious man.”
