Chapter 189 Meet Elijah Again
After Cordelia set off on her journey, Elijah personally visited a pharmacy in the Undernet.
He tried various methods to persuade one of the pharmacy’s apprentices. Eventually, the apprentice reluctantly agreed to send him a photo of Cordelia but strictly limited it to that.
“Sir, if it weren’t for your deep affection for Evie, I would never agree to send you the photo,” the young apprentice said seriously.
Elijah nodded solemnly.
“If you like Evie so much, why don’t you tell her? If I were interested in a girl, I would confess my feelings to her right away.”
The young apprentice appeared to be only eighteen or nineteen years old, but he had a thoughtful look about him.
Elijah pondered for a moment and replied, “Even if you knew she might have feelings for someone else? Even if there was a good chance she would reject you and embarra*s you?”
The apprentice waved his hand and said dismissively, “I would still let her know! What if? Pride is nothing. If you felt embarra*sed, so be it!”
Elijah pursed his l*ps and quietly put on his sungla*ses. “Thank you. I’ll wait for your photo.”
A month later, Cordelia still hadn’t returned to Beilve City.
She was currently in a water town, offering medical consultations at a local pharmacy of the Undernet.
During this time, her fame had spread far and wide, attracting many patients, including influential figures, which made her network more and more extensive.
“Next, please.”
Cordelia was busy jotting down notes when she sensed a new patient before her. She didn’t look up and asked, “What seems to be the trouble?”
“I have discomfort in my heart.”
Cordelia’s pen paused, and she raised her gaze to the person sitting in front of her.
It was Elijah. He sat in front of her, wearing sungla*ses and with an expressionless face. His gaze, concealed beneath the shades, was likely fixed firmly on her at that moment.
“Let me ch*ck your pulse first.”
Cordelia reached out her hand calmly and placed it on his inner
wrist.
As she casually glanced at the ceiling, carefully feeling his pulse, a slight hint of worry flashed in her eyes.
“Doctor, is there no hope for me?” Elijah asked calmly.
Cordelia looked at him calmly and said, “Your heart is fine, but you seem to have some kidney deficiency. I suggest taking some medication to regulate it.”
Elijah’s b*dy visibly stiffened, and then he smirked slightly. “Don’t make fun of me.”
“Have you been experiencing insomnia, night sweats, and a lack of energy recently?” Cordelia asked with a serious tone.
Elijah pondered for a moment before replying, “Yes, I have experienced insomnia and vivid dreams, and I do have night sweats. As for a lack of energy, I won’t know until I try.”
Cordelia’s delicate l*ps tightened, refusing to let him lead the conversation further. She swiftly wrote a prescription for him.
“Okay, next one.”
Cordelia didn’t waste time with Elijah.
As Elijah took the prescription and stood up, he said, “I’ll be waiting outside for you.”
Cordelia continued to lower her head, focused on her notes, ignoring him.
What he chose to do was his own business. Cordelia didn’t care.
The whole afternoon, Cordelia attended to over thirty patients.
After finishing her work, she felt exhausted, and her mood was not pleasant.
She went to the changing room to change her clothes, then, as usual, intended to walk back to the guesthouse where she was staying.
As soon as she stepped out, an umbrella covered her head.
It had been raining all afternoon, sometimes gently and sometimes heavily.
Cordelia looked down and saw that Elijah’s pants were halfway soaked.
He had been standing outside the entire afternoon.
