Elijah nodded. “It seems like your requirements are quite reasonable and easy to please.”
Cordelia was taken aback for a moment, and then her mind started to wander.
He gazed at her for a moment, a mischievous smile tugging at his l*ps. “This aspect is quite in line with our bedroom activities.”
“Elijah!” Cordelia scowled.
Elijah hugged her tightly. “I was just teasing.”
Cordelia wanted to escape from his embrace, but he held her firmly, not allowing her to escape.
“I’ll do my best to meet your expectations. If I fall short, you can always point it out,” Elijah said earnestly.
Cordelia replied absentmindedly, not really believing in what he had said.
After all, very few men would admit that they had done the wrong thing. Most of them would always insist that they were
correct.
But she did feel that Elijah was trying to change the tense dynamic in their marriage.
Cordelia couldn’t help but feel like fate was joking with her.
Whenever she was on the brink of giving up, a glimmer of hope emerged, preventing her from completely severing her feelings. for Elijah.
Then, she reached out to touch her belly. This baby came into her life when their marriage was coming to an end.
Perhaps she could wait and see how much Elijah would do for their marriage, at least before she gave birth to this baby.
The next morning was bright and sunny.
Elijah and Cordelia were about to leave Mount Damerel.
Before leaving, just as they had settled into the car, Elijah suddenly asked, “Is there nowhere else you’d like to visit?”
Cordelia replied, “Nope. This place has changed so much. It’s not the same Mount Damerel I remember.”
The memories of her time with her grandmother had become hazy. Now, this place brought her nothing but sorrow.
Cordelia was already satisfied after returning to this place, and she didn’t come back here again.
“Then how about we visit Aprico Village?” Elijah suggested.
“Sure, and I’ll introduce you to someone, the person I’ve loved the most in my life,” Cordelia said with a smile, her eyes filled with tenderness.
Elijah hesitated for a moment, then his gaze softened, and he cleared his throat. “Alright.”
Years had pa*sed, and Aprico Village had changed significantly.
Many new faces appeared in the village, including recent college graduates who had come to the countryside to pursue wealth and support rural development.
As Elijah drove his luxurious car into the village, many curious eyes turned their way.
Seeing Cordelia quietly putting on sungla*ses, signaling her reluctance to engage with others, Elijah didn’t stop and quickly drove deeper into the village.
“We’re here. Pull over,” Cordelia said.
Elijah looked outside at the surroundings. “Are you sure?”
It seemed like they were in a cemetery.
“Afraid?” Cordelia smiled and opened the car door, stepping
out.
Elijah hurriedly followed. “Cordelia, are you taking me to see your grandmother?” :
“Yes, who else in this world could be the person I’ve loved the most in my life?” Cordelia smiled with tears in her eyes.
Then, she stepped forward and bowed in front of a grave. “Grandma, it’s me, Cordie. I’m back!”
Cordie was the exclusive nickname that her grandma gave her. In this world, only her grandma loved her the most and called her most affectionately.
Elijah stood solemnly behind Cordelia, looking at the unmarked grave before them.
Suddenly, Cordelia froze, her beautiful eyes widening in disbelief as she turned to Elijah.
