Chapter 136 A Valid Reason
“It is true. Jacob and I saw it. Jacob is a gentleman. He looked
away immediately. It was embarra*sing.”
Lamia talked endlessly, and Cordelia listened with gusto.
Edith was so angry that the veins on her forehead stood out. “It’s outrageous. Daisy looked knowledgeable and sensible. I didn’t
expect her to be a loose woman!”
Lamia smiled, “Mom, it is nothing to be surprised at. It’s normal. Many strange women approach Elijah like a moth to the flame…”
Cordelia frowned.
Like a moth to the flame.
What a good metaphor.
Falling in love with a man like Elijah would bring destruction to
Cordelia.
“Anyway, Elijah and Jacob are pretty good among those rich young men,” Lamia said without paying attention to her mother’s
expression.
Cordelia hadn’t spoken for a long time, so Edith said, “Cordelia,
the men in our family are dedicated. I can a*sure you of this. But
you have to be careful. Some women like to play dirty tricks.”
Cordelia nodded obediently. She lowered her head and frowned.
Marriage required two people to work together. It was useless for
her to work hard alone.
After experiencing those things before, Cordelia didn’t care about
it anymore. Elijah could do whatever he liked. At worst, they would
get a divorce. There was nothing to be afraid of.
After leaving Lamia’s room, Cordelia pa*sed by Gideon’s study and heard Gideon scolding Elijah again.
“You’re an adult, but I have to solve your problems at such an old
age. If you didn’t promise Daisy, why did she complain to me? You should solve this as soon as possible, and don’t let Cordelia
know.”
Cordelia didn’t continue listening and left in a hurry.
After a while, Elijah walked downstairs. He saw Cordelia sitting upright on the sofa and immediately strode forward.
“Are you tired? Why don’t you have a rest in the room?”
Cordelia looked up at Elijah’s eyes. His eyes were a little tired, but they were full of concern and seriousness when he looked at her.
Seeing that she was silent, Elijah leaned over and approached her. “What’s wrong? Are you uncomfortable?”
“No.”
Cordelia raised her hands, hugged his neck, and k*ssed the corner
of his mouth mischievously.
Elijah was stunned for a moment, then chuckled, put his arms
around her waist, and hugged her.
“Let me take you home.”
“Okay.” Cordelia hugged Elijah’s neck, leaned on his shoulder, and closed her eyes tiredly.
Just as they stepped out of the door, Lamia ran out. “Elijah, I have
something to tell you.”
Elijah stopped, frowned, and said displeasedly, “What’s the
matter? Hurry up. Cordelia is tired.”
Cordelia pinched his cheek with one hand. “Be patient with
Lamia.”
“Well, tell me.” Elijah’s tone softened.
Lamia’s eyes widened, and she looked at Cordelia with
admiration.
Cordelia tamed the obstinate and unruly Elijah.
She was awesome!
“Hmm… Well, Jacob is going to Tarssa City for a month’s business
trip. I want to go with him,” Lamia said expectantly.
Elijah said impatiently, “You should tell your elders about this. Why did you tell me?”
“I… I need a valid reason! Elijah, help me! Please!” Lamia said
pitifully.
