“With you being so generous, giving bags worth hundreds of thousands of dollars like they were wholesale goods, why do you look surprised when you know I’ve heard about it?” Cordelia folded her arms and looked at him like a teacher questioning a student.
“Eva spilled cola all over Mae at the store today. They ended up in a physical altercation, and I was short on time, so I spent money to resolve the situation.” Elijah was clearly irritated and impatient when he recounted the incident.
Cordelia understood. Elijah had used the money to pacify Eva and Mac, hoping they would behave.

“Cora, when can we collaborate? I’m looking forward to dancing with you.” Ivan boldly and straightforwardly extended an
invitation.
“Ivan, it might not be possible for a while,” Cordelia smiled and openly admitted, “I’m pregnant.”
“Really?” Ivan looked at Cordelia in astonishment. “You’re so young, and yet… Well, it’s a pity.”
As the words left his mouth, Ivan realized he had misspoken and immediately stopped himself.
