Vera’s eyes filled with crystal-like tears. Sobbing, she ran over and hugged Eric from behind, as if she was desperately trying to hold on to him. “Eric, do you know how much I envy Eileen? I envy her because the person she loves also loves her unconditionally. She can even get engaged to the person she loves, Eric… I want to be with you forever. Eric’s back was upright and burning hot, yet his heart seemed to be frozen in ice.

“You don’t need to use those words to pacify me, saying you have no plans to settle down. You’re just lying to me… I’m not a child anymore. Vera shut the gla*s door of the kitchen, wearing a wry smile on her face. “Eric, once I’m gone, you can love someone else.”
“Vera, don’t force me,” Eric said, his brow furrowed in a frightening manner.
“Eric, I just love you too much. Ever since we were children, you were the only family I had. If it weren’t for you, I might have died when I was ten. I can’t accept you loving someone else. Rather than watching you be with another woman in the future, I’d prefer to stay in this moment forever… Perhaps… you’ll remember me for the rest of your life. Perhaps… it’s better that death comes for me!”
Blood trickled down her delicate arm, falling onto the tiled floor.

In the emergency room, Zachary stitched her wound calmly.
“I never imagined someone as gentle as her would try to take her own life for you. Haven’t you ever considered returning her feelings? Eileen is destined to be Mrs. Smith in the future. There’s no doubt about it. Unless you can overthrow Smith Corporation overnight, there’s no way you can take Eileen from him. Eric retorted, “What are you trying to do?”
Zachary took off his gloves and threw them into the trash bin. “You know I own more than just this one hospital. I’m involved in any medical project as long as it makes money, including cosmetic surgery.
“Three years ago, Daisy was preparing to go abroad and came to me for cosmetic surgery. I happened to be at the hospital, so I gave her a consultation and she saw the photo on my desk. After her surgery. she recovered well and bore a striking resemblance to Eileen. However, there was one thing. “Haha… Alright, I accept the bet, but… I don’t want Vera. What if I were to say… that I want Eileen? Would you have the heart to do it?”
“You were even willing to pursue your own sister-in-law, so why would I hesitate to pursue a mere Eileen?”
