Eileen didn’t know what to say. Jasper stood at the top of the pyramid in Hulbury, a place unreachable by others. Yet, unknown to them, he, too, had a broken family.
They seemed to share a common sorrow in this regard – the greater their misfortune, the more they yearned for a complete family.
“Perhaps this is how the heavens work, granting you wealth and status but also taking away other things. Compared to most people, we are already very fortunate.”
Eileen was not greedy; all she desired was freedom and the right to make her own choices.
Jasper’s broad palm gently stroked her slightly curled long hair. “From now on, I only have you. Will you always be with me?”
The weight of those words pressed down on Eileen, making her slightly breathless.
In reality, there were many people around him, not just her alone.
Eileen understood that when Jasper was in his darkest times, he encountered a ray of light that shone into his world, pulling him out of the abyss of hell.
Even if Nancy had done something in the past to wrong him, these things were not easily forgotten, so she understood Jasper’s feelings.
For Jasper, Nancy was not just his past.
The bond between them was not something just anyone could replace.
When Nancy left, he found himself returning to those dark times. It was just by chance that Eileen appeared, right when he was on the verge of ending his own life.
She understood all too well and was not ignorant of the fact that their relationship was something she could not interfere with.
Now that Nancy had returned, Eileen seemed like an unintentional intruder in their world, more like an outsider.
Eileen slightly lifted the corner of her l*ps but didn’t say anything.
She believed that she held a place in Jasper’s heart, yet she knew he simply couldn’t let go of Nancy either.

Jasper was rendered speechless.
Eileen looked at him as he exuded a cold aura. “I’m not eating the ravioli anymore. They’ve gone cold.”
Jasper replied, “Okay.”
In truth, they both understood. Even without clearing the air between them, Nancy was like a ticking time bomb by their side. Eileen also thought that they were destined to meet but not be together.
For Eileen, she could only take things one step at a time now.
The Swan family arrived to visit but left after seeing she was fine.
In the study at Undella Mansion.
“What is with Eileen’s hysterectomy? How long have you all been keeping this from me!” Will exploded in anger.
Eric lowered his head and merely responded with, “I’m sorry, Father.”
Looking at the man in front of him, Will suppressed all his anger. He twirled the rosary in his hand and closed his eyes. “Who else knows about this matter besides you?”
Jasper does.”
Will was taken aback. “How did he find out?”
“Eileen told him, but it seemed that Jasper didn’t react much even so.”
Unexpectedly, Eileen was unable to bear children. To Will, she was like a useless tool. Yet, Jasper knew this and still cherished her, even allowing her to remain in the Smith family. From the looks of it, she wasn’t entirely useless after all.
“Where is Nancy now?”
The hospital. She’s currently under the protection of Jasper’s people.”
Will’s eyes darkened slightly. “Take care of Nancy’s matter cleanly, and don’t let anyone findi

out. If Eileen marries into the Smith family, it will be beneficial for both you and me. Go on!”
“Yes, Father.”
Eric turned around and left the study. Outside the door, Elsie was holding a bowl of chicken. stew while quickly dissolving a packet of Blake powder into it. “Darling, is the discussion over?” she asked.
Eric casually put his hand in his pocket, walking past her with an air of indifference.
With a light and breezy smile, Elsie, dressed in a red dress, swayed her hips as she walked in.
Eileen had been recuperating in the hospital for over a week. Apart from Natalie, Jasper barred anyone else from visiting her in the ward. In truth, this was also Eileen’s preference; she didn’t like having too many people around. These days, Jasper had practically turned the ward into his study, spending most of his time accompanying her and rarely leaving her sight, even reporting to her when he needed to use the restroom.
He truly didn’t need to go to such lengths.
Eileen was already able to get out of bed, and in fact, she could have been discharged from the hospital. However, Jasper was simply too worried about her. “Stop working. Here, have some fruit.”
“Okay.” Jasper closed the file, his arm wrapping around her waist as they sat on the couch together. “What’s the matter? Are you bored?”
Eileen replied, “You’ve been here for so many days already. You should go see her. After all, you two have known each other for so many years.”
Jasper withdrew his hand from her waist. “You watch TV for a while; I still have some things to deal with.” His change in attitude was sudden, and Eileen was unclear as to why he was
upset.
Eileen stood up and left. Sitting by the floor-to-ceiling window, she opened a book.
Just then, Fabian walked in. “Mr. Smith, I have something to report.
Fabian hesitated, wanting to speak but stopping himself. He glanced at Eileen, the sunlight spilling over her, casting a soft glow around her. There was an indescribable beauty about
her.
“But…”
Eileen stood up. “I’m going for a walk downstairs. You guys carry on with your conversation.”
“No need.”

After some hesitation, Fabian spoke. “It’s about Ms. Mulligan. She’s insisting on seeing you and is currently refusing medical treatment. She’s made quite a fuss, to the point where even the b*dyguards are at a loss.”
Both of them turned to glance at Eileen simultaneously, only to find her with an indifferent expression, still absorbed in the book on her phone, seemingly unconcerned about their
discussion.
Jasper was desperately attempting to detect any emotional changes in her, but there was none. “Eileen, what do you suggest I do?”
Eileen turned a page, her finger pausing as she looked at him. “You should listen to your own heart, Jasper. She was with you for such a long time, and I know you can’t easily forget that past. Even if you want to, it won’t be that simple! Go and see her! You never know, she might have faced unimaginable difficulties when she left back then. Speak kindly to her, and don’t let pride hinder you.”
Jasper observed her nonchalant demeanor, his cold fingers tightening. His gaze was dark and foreboding. “Is that your opinion?”
Eileen stood up. “You may not appreciate what I’m about to say.”
“Hmm?”
Eileen delicately moved her pale l*ps, slowly uttering, “Let’s go our separate ways…”
