Chapter 179 First In Cla*s But Sixtieth In Grade
Ideen served Layla a bowl of fish soup, placing a spoon next to it, and brought it to the elderly lady. “It’s fresh from the pot. It’s a bit hot, so please be careful, ma’am.”
“The taste is quite good,” said Layla.
“Are you lost, ma’am? Do you remember where your home is?” Eileen asked.
Just then, the sound of a car echoed from outside the door. Eileen heard the noise and looked over, only to see a Cayenne parked outside the main gate.
Jasper, who appeared a little unwell, stepped out of the car and noticed that the living room was brightly lit.
Is she still awake?
A moment later, the door swung open. There stood Eileen, dressed in a Blake nightgown. The moonlight fell on her skin, making it seem as if it was glowing from within. Her skin looked fair as snow as she walked toward him.
The moment he saw her, an indescribable emotion welled up in his chest. It felt as though his heart was warmed from within, a feeling he had never experienced before.
Jasper gently brushed her hair behind her ear as he asked, “Why aren’t you asleep yet? It’s so late.”
Eileen paused for a moment, her hands subconsciously clutching the sides of her nightgown in nervousness. A faint smile curved up at the corners of her mouth as she replied, “I’ve made some stewed fish. It’s in the pot. Would you like to try some?”
“Did you make it for me?”
“Ms. Eileen!” Fabian called out to her.
“Fabian!” Jasper stopped him with a look, and Fabian immediately fell silent.
Eileen sensed that something was wrong. Did something happen?
Since it was clear that they didn’t want her to know about it, Eileen decided not to ask any further.
Jasper naturally took her hand and said, “Let’s go inside.”
“Oh right, I forgot to tell you, there’s a strange old lady who seems to have gotten lost, Eileen said.
Oh Jasper walked to the entrance and saw an old woman sitting at the dining table, sipping soup Ihs expression paused for a moment.

“I apologize for the inconvenience, young lady. I’m an old servant of the Smith family. My age has caught up with me, and my vision isn’t what it used to be, so I tend to lose my way
often.”
“Let me take you home,” Eileen said.
Jasper went along with it and said, “I’ve already made arrangements for someone to pick her up. After we finish eating, we can go back to our rooms to rest. You still have school.

As he handed Eileen a bowl of stew, Eileen noticed a drop of blood on the back of his hand. which blended in with his tattoo. If one didn’t look closely, it would have been hard to spot.
Did he come back so late because he went to the hospital? That explains why he looks so pale.
The two looked like a perfect match whenever they were intimate with each other. Layla, too, couldn’t help but cast a scrutinizing gaze upon Eileen.
Eileen couldn’t understand why Layla was always looking at her, though.
Richard was the one who brought the old lady home later that night.
After finishing her meal, Eileen washed the dishes, and then they both returned to their respective rooms.
It was already midnight by the time they got ready to go to bed.
Eileen was about to sleep when she overheard a hushed conversation through the door.
She walked closer to the door and listened in on the conversation.
“How much did Mr. Jasper eat?” Richard asked.
“This is already the second bowl that’s been brought in, and Mr. Jasper only finished half of it.
says he doesn’t have much of an appetite,” replied the housekeeper.
Never mind. Mr. Jasper just had some fish, so he probably isn’t hungry yet. Let’s go downstairs for now. Check on Mr. Jasper in half an hour and make sure he finishes his meal. Make him some light oatmeal tomorrow morning,” Richard said.
“Understood. Mr. Zimmer.”
The conversation abruptly ceased after that.
Eileen had just gotten into bed and was lying in her covers when her mind filled with. indescribable thoughts.
At half past seven the following morning, Jasper was wearing a gray shirt with a vest over it, and he was carrying a suit jacket in his hand.
As if he hadn’t had a good rest the night before, he ma*saged his forehead as he walked downstairs.
He was taken aback when he saw Eileen still leisurely enjoying her breakfast at the dining table. Usually, she would have already left by this time.
“Good morning!” Eileen greeted him.
Good morning. Why haven’t you left yet?” Jasper responded.
“I forgot to charge my phone, so the alarm didn’t go off, and I ended up oversleeping. But it’s okay, I’ve already taken the day off. Will you be having breakfast? The oatmeal looks quite good today.” Eileen replied calmly.
Jasper lifted his wrist, glanced at the time, and said, “All right.” He then draped his coat over the back of the chair and sat down.
After breakfast, Jasper drove Eileen to school.
The first cla*s was about to start.
Jasper stepped forward to help Eileen unbuckle the seatbelt.
“Thank you. I’ll be on my way now,” Eileen said.
“Is your cla*s ending at the usual time? Do you need me to come pick you up?”
“I don’t know. Mr. Gardner helped me apply for an enrichment program after I left the Olympiad Math Cla*s. I have to attend it in the evening, but I’m not sure what time it ends, Eileen told him.
Jasper nodded in agreement and thought for a moment before saying, “Why don’t you send me a message? I might have to work late tonight, but it’s on my way home. We might be able to go back together.”
“Okay,” Eileen agreed.
After stepping out of the car, Eileen turned back once more.
Jasper rolled down the car window and asked, “What’s the matter?”
Eileen tightened her grip on the strap of her backpack as she said, “Remember to eat regularly, Jasper.”
Jasper a*sumed she had forgotten something, but he didn’t expect her to say that to him.
Even a simple word of concern was enough to make him happy.
The gentle look of joy in Jasper’s eyes intensified. “All right.”
“I’ll be on my way now!” Eileen waved at him.
As she turned to leave, she thought she was the last one. Unexpectedly, Vera was even later than her.
Vera saw her and called out, “Eileen!”
Eileen paused, her gaze drifting to a car not far from her. She subtly avoided looking at it as Vera approached her, carrying a bag of snacks. “Why are you so late today?” she asked.
“I overslept.”
“Thank you for yesterday. Eric bought me some snacks, let’s eat them together!”
“We should hurry, or we’ll be late for the first cla*s.”
Upon arriving at the cla*sroom on the first day of school, the test papers from yesterday had already been graded. Eileen received a relatively high score.
Her total score was over seven hundred, ranking second in the cla*s and in the entire grade. Compared to her grades from last year’s exam, she had moved up one place.
Moreover, she was only one spot behind the first-place student.
The subject in which she scored the lowest was Clusian, and she lost the most marks in the Clusian essay writing section.
The final rankings were posted on the college’s bulletin board later that afternoon.
