Eileen got into Jasper’s car. The air conditioning inside wasn’t too cold. She still had her coat draped over her. It was a bit late when she headed back. Eileen leaned against the car seat, already asleep with her eyes closed.
Seeing this through the rearview mirror, Fabian dimmed the lights inside the car. It was so quiet that her shallow breathing could be heard clearly.
Jasper took out a blanket he had prepared and gently covered her. Eileen adjusted her posture comfortably. Feeling the movement, she slowly opened her eyes. Her vision was a bit blurry until she recognized the familiar face.
“Sorry for waking you up,” he said gently.

Sharon held a cup of hot milk and handed it over with a heating pad. “I bought this today. Stick it on, it’ll keep you warm. You’re still on your period. Remember to wear more and don’t catch a cold.”
“I know.” Eileen picked up the milk and took a sip..
Sharon asked again, “Why didn’t Mr. Snow and Vera come back with you?”
“They had something to do and didn’t come with me. Sharon, you don’t need to wait for them either. You should rest soon.”
“Okay, you should remember to rest early too.”
She nodded.
Eileen took off her suit and put it aside. After finishing the milk, she went to the room to grab clean clothes and take a shower.
Half an hour later, she came out of the bathroom and wiped her hair with a dry towel. She was about to go back to her room when her phone started vibrating. It was a call from Jasper.
Eileen paused in her actions, quietly watching as the call was automatically ended. She withdrew her gaze and sat on the edge of the bed, feeling a heaviness in her heart as if someone was slowly piling stones on her chest.
In truth, she had numerous opportunities to reject Jasper’s advances. Tonight, she had planned to clarify things with him. However, she hadn’t expected Richard to disclose his illness to her.
If this were to continue, she feared it would only cause him greater harm in the end.

Outside, Richard heard the phone ring in the room with the medicine and a gla*s of water in his hands. He paused at the door, not wanting to interrupt.
After waiting for about four to five minutes, the call ended.
The call ended. Richard finally turned on a dim bedside lamp and walked over.
“Was that Ms. Eileen?”
Jasper turned around, his voice slow. “Yes, it was her. Did you tell her everything about me?”
Richard denied, “It was Ms. Eileen who asked me about it. I just informed her briefly about the situation. She really cares about you. She isn’t doing well at home. For her sake, you have to take care of yourself, persuade the shareholders, and secure your position to save Ms. Eileen.”
“You’re right…” Jasper turned around and looked at the brightly lit street. His gaze deepened. “The only way to gain power and bring her back to me is to gain complete control of Smith Corporation.”
