“Don’t cry,” he urged, wiping away tears from the corners of her eyes, his sincere gaze tinged with distress. “I’ll let you go. You can go wherever you want. I won’t stand in your way.”
Cherise’s heart clenched as if gripped by an unseen force, leaving her unsettled. As she gazed into Damien’s eyes, which held a humble and slightly sheepish gaze, she had a whirlwind of conflicting emotions while listening to his pleading tone.
