Charlotte suddenly remembered Lisa’s ex-boyfriend and casually said, “Lisa had a boyfriend before. Perhaps he might
know something.”
Officer Carter nodded thoughtfully, “I’ll follow up on that. Thank you for your cooperation.”
Coming out of the police station, Charlotte saw Joe waiting for her outside.
The pale golden sunlight bathed him, casting a long, elongated shadow and giving him a faint golden hue.
Seeing Charlotte, Joe’s l*ps curved as he approached, “Is it over?”
Charlotte nodded and told Joe about her conjecture. He furrowed his brows, not wanting any factors that could threaten
Charlotte’s safety to remain unchecked.
“I’ll have someone keep an eye on Durke.”
However, Charlotte remained relaxed; after all, the authorities were getting involved, and it should only be a matter of time
before the culprit was apprehended.
With warm palms, Joe enveloped Charlotte and led her to the car.
He considerately opened the car door for her and leaned in closer. Charlotte thought he was going to k*ss her and
instinctively closed her eyes.
Joe’s warm breath brushed against her cheek, and he gave a faint, gentle smile.
He pulled the seatbelt out from the side and carefully fastened it for her.
Charlotte, irritated and embarra*sed, shot him an annoyed look.
He guided her into the car and fastened her seatbelt with care.

Charlotte’s eyelashes trembled. Before she could say anything, Joe covered her eyes with his hand and then deeply
k*ssed her l*ps.
After the k*ss ended, Charlotte gradually regained her composure from the earlier emotions.
As the scenery outside the window grew increasingly unfamiliar, she grew curious. “Where are we going?”
Joe hooked his l*ps and turned his head, a meaningful glint in his eyes. “To a place I’ve wanted to take you to for a while.”
Soon, they arrived at their destination.
Charlotte looked at the grand and majestic law firm building before them, raising an eyebrow. “Are you bringing me here to
sue someone?”
Joe gave a mysterious smile and led her inside while holding her hand.
Familiar with the layout, Joe led Charlotte to a conference room. There were already two or three people who looked like
lawyers seated inside. Upon seeing Charlotte and Joe enter, the one leading them stood up and greeted, “Hello, I’m
Anthony, the attorney appointed by Mr. Smith.”
Charlotte became even more puzzled. She hadn’t expected that Joe would bring her to meet with a lawyer.
After they were seated, Anthony handed a property transfer agreement to Charlotte. “This is a property transfer
agreement drafted by Mr. Smith. If you have no objections, please sign it.”
“What did you say?” Charlotte looked at Joe in shock. “Are you out of your mind?”
She had considered countless possibilities but never expected that Joe would bring her here for a property transfer.
Joe, however, smiled lightly. “I had them prepare these documents a while ago. We both aren’t lacking in money, and we
probably won’t worry about it in our lifetimes. But I still want to give you these things just because I want to.”
Charlotte looked at Joe in disbelief. Even without looking at the thick stack of property documents beside her, she knew
that Joe’s wealth was definitely an astronomical figure.
Not to mention, it probably included shares of the Smith Group.
“By doing this, does your grandfather know?” Charlotte gazed at him helplessly. If Sir Smith knew that his beloved
grandson had willingly given away the Smith Group’s shares, he would probably be furious enough to give Joe a good
beating.
