Wendy didn’t expect that when she returned home, Joe was already sitting in the living room,
She thought about how the two of them had been living together for so long but always slept in separate rooms. A sly gleam flashed in her eyes, “Why did you come back so early today?”
She tried to hold Joe’s hand, but Joe subtly avoided her grasp.
“You visited the detention center today,” Joe’s eyes stared intently at Wendy, sending shivers down her spine.
A flurry of thoughts raced through Wendy’s mind. Knowing she couldn’t hide her movements, she decided to admit it.
With tears in her eyes, Wendy looked at Joe and said, “Actually… she is really my aunt.”
Wendy sat down next to Joe and began to sob softly, “When my parents met with an accident years ago, they looked after me for a while. But finding it hard to afford my upkeep, they left me at my current parents’ doorstep. It was only after I grew up and became famous that she sought me out again… I didn’t admit this in front of Charlotte because I didn’t want others to know about that part of my past. And more importantly, I didn’t want them to think that I’m with you only for your money.”
She took Joe’s hand, tears streaming down her face, “Joe, you know I’m not like that. I love you, not your money,”
As she spoke, she purposefully turned her arm to reveal the red birthmark.
But unlike usual, Joe didn’t relent upon seeing, the birthmark. Instead, he looked at her silently for a long while, “Do you remember how many kidnappers there were when we were abducted?”
Wendy was taken aback, answering with a rigid expression, “Three. Why are you suddenly asking me this?”
“Okay.”
Joe quietly acknowledged, his deep eyes swirling with countless emotions that were forcefully suppressed.
Wendy took a deep breath and took the opportunity to say to Joe, “After all, she is my aunt…can you…”
Joe indifferently replied, “She’s stolen business secrets worth 20 billion dollars this time, involving both the Smith Group and Horizon Group. Do you think I can let her go?”
“This venture is ultimately our own project. If you decide not to pursue it, I don’t think Charlotte would say anything.” Wendy softly leaned against Joe, her eyes seductive, “I can do anything for you if you wish…”

He stood up and looked at Wendy, “If you want, I can help her get the best lawyer.”
With Wendy’s surprised gaze following him, Joe slowly walked upstairs.
Wendy tightly gripped the leather surface of the sofa. She remembered the news she had checked today and made a phone call, “I can get you what you want, but you have to help me too.”
Whatever was said on the other side made Wendy hesitate for a moment before she gritted her teeth and agreed.
Donny wasn’t just speaking casually about repaying the money. In just two days, he came to Charlotte with a check.
Charlotte looked at the ch*ck in front of her, worth five million dollars, and raised an eyebrow, “What is this…?”
“I know we owe you a lot and it might take some time to pay it all back, but I want to repay it bit by bit,” Donny sincerely looked at Charlotte, “This is the money I got from selling my house temporarily. Please take it for now.”
Charlotte lowered her eyes to the ch*ck in her hand, asking, “Where are you living now?”
Donny chuckled, “I have a place to stay. You don’t need to worry.”
Charlotte pondered for a moment, then accepted the check.
But Donny didn’t rush to leave.
